In a last-minute change to the Senate bill that was agreed on Friday, a 10% tax was introduced into the legislation on all indoor tanning sessions as a way of reducing the cost of extending healthcare to many of the medically uninsured. Democratic organisers expect the levy to bring in almost $3bn over 10 years.

I can’t believe the numbers. $3B on 10% over 10 years is a ~$3B/yr industry. For tanning salons?
Cornholio is not only covered, it’s encouraged.
This tax violates the Civil Rights Act. It discriminates against white people.
Sure it is...you won’t see any blacks paying for this tax..
That’s what I was thinking...sort of a racist tax to me. Only the whities are being taxed. What if Gingrich had tried to tax Jerry Curl or pigs feet? Seems the salons have a case for SCOTUS on their own.
I really wish someone would sue on those gounds, if for no other reason to get the headline out there.
I guess we had better check with the Congressional Black Caucus. After all, they think “Kill The Bill” sounds just like the N word.
In this case: TOUGH LUCK

Someone I know who is in her early thirties, loves to get a tan in one of these tanning salons. She also voted very emphatically for Zero. Oh the irony of it. These people need to hurt, hurt, hurt. They won’t understand pain until they feel it in their wallets.
Most of these tanning salons do something else as well as tanning such as hair styling. I imagine you are going to see a lot of tanning sessions charged as something else to avoid the tax...
Considering it targets one race, yes, it is.
I propose a weave tax.
By the way, since Alaskans use tanning beds frequently to make up for the vitamin D in the winter, they are going to feel this the harshest.
don’tcha know — they gotta pay for the obortion care bill somehow.

This is one of the funniest threads yet!
Next they’re going to extend it to folks on the beach.
French fries and pizza are next.
They want to build more Solar Power Plants and Wind Farms, and they will use the Taxes Created by Cap and Trade to build them.
LOL!
How’s that “Hope and Change” working out for you?
Just remind everyone that most people don’t mind paying more if they get more services. :)
Of course, Black women will get screwed on the Exemption, so Obama will just send them an Autographed Picture to make up for it.
