If November doesn’t turn things around,
people need to prepare for the inevitable.
Now THAT would be a different story. As for right now, we still have a chance to end this without going bonkers.
However, IMHO, there's a big difference between being prepared for the worst, and looking forward to such a thing.
For instance, I know how to grow a garden, how to hunt, and how to fish. It's fun, when you want a tomato or two for sandwiches, or want to sit in a boat drinking a beer with your buddies while waiting for a bass to bite. But, trying to feed a family of four that way - who will go hungry if you're not successful - is hard work.
It's far easier to plunk down a credit card at the grocery store, than it is to grow all of your own groceries from scratch.
I think that there are many FReepers who haven't thought things all the way through - if things really go to hell in a handbasket. Internet and FR will be two of the first things to go. :-)
