Seth MacFarlane marked the five-year-anniversary of Terri Schiavo's court-ordered death by staging a preschool musical about it in his crass FOX cartoon, "Family Guy."
MacFarlane denied Schiavo human dignity in the March 21 episode by referring to her in lyrics sung by cartoon preschoolers as "the most expensive plant you'll ever see" and a "vegetable," and noted "her mashed potato brains."
The child who played the role of Schiavo's husband, Michael, ultimately concluded, "There's only one solution, it's in the Constitution, we've got to pull the plug."
Schiavo died on March 31, 2005, after her parents fought numerous legal battles, appealing to the United States Congress and Supreme Court, to keep her alive, against the wishes of her husband.
A chorus representing pro-life protesters sang in the show, "Terri Schaivo is kind of alive-oh. What a lively little bugger ... Terri Schiavo is kind of alive-oh, the most expensive plant you'll ever see." A "doctor" sang, "Maybe we should just unplug her."
Bobby Schindler, the brother of Terri Schiavo, spoke to pro-life activist Jill Stanek about MacFarlane's treatment of his sister's death.
"This just validates what our family has been saying from the beginning: There is a deep rooted prejudice against people with these types of brain injuries," he stated. "And it's why killing these people is being accepted more and more every day ... by our culture and our nation."
Schindler warned pro-life activists at last year's March for Life about the hatred they should expect to receive from the "secular media." He also detailed some of the horrors he witnessed as his sister slowly died
"My sister Terri Schiavo died a cruel and barbaric death that no family should ever have to witness. Let me tell you, her two-week dehydration death was horrifying," he told activists. "Watching blood pool in her eyes as she was deliberately killed by court order, my family decided her death would not be in vain."
Unfortunately for Schindler and the rest of Schiavo's friends and family, MacFarlane decided her death could be played for laughs.

I’m Fifty. I don’t watch cartoons.
Would it be un-Christian of me if I wished that Seth McFarlane has a slow, painful death? He is disgusting!
Cartoons used to be for kids. Now they are for morons and the mentally weak. That goes for Family Guy, South Park, American Dad, Simpsons, and all the rest.
I don’t think it’s possible to create something sicker or more devoid of human feeling than this. It is frightening.
So because I enjoy “South Park” and the first nine seasons of “Simpsons,” I’m a “moron” and “mentally weak”?
Interesting.
Real life is beginning to read more and more like a Left Behind novel.
What’s wrong with people?
It's worse than that, I remember five years ago being told by more than a few FReepers that Terri was "just a vegetable" and many times since then I've been told that she was "brain dead" and that we should just forget about her.
If anyone wants further proof, just do a FR keyword search on "WPPFF" and you will see exactly what I mean.
I remember those days well. Very sad and frustrating, particularly if one considers that there could be so many here who simply did not understand.
It still happens on a limited basis, but thankfully most of the worst offenders have either quit FR or been banned.
Liberals are so classy. They have all the class in the World - in their own minds.
I guess I missed this one because I don’t watch cartoons by anarcho-libertarian 20-somethings full of themselves
For that I am thankful too.
MacFarlane is an ass.
Any writer that stoops to this level has obviously had their creative juices run dry a long time ago.
Disgusting.
Ask yourselves...what is the purpose of having shows with this kind of disregard for the sanctity of life? What will it achieve...it is not just this show...there are many examples where the democrats demean life. They are getting very close to doing very very despicable things people. We must act soon or we will find ourselves the recipients of democrat evil...
I think the drinking game the WPPFF played during Terri’s murder was removed by moderator, but many of the comments made by the drunks during that game remain. Unfortunately, a few of the freepers who joined in celebrating her murder are still here, or have returned after having been banned. This Family Guy episode is no worse than the comments some freepers made. It’s amazing how much hatred they have against an innocent woman.
It’s evil/sociopathic.
There aren’t many left, but there are a few. It has been a lot “quieter” this March than it has been in the past.
Yes it is. Once they sell or give their soul to Satan, they no longer have even temporary use of it. When we dedicate our soul to God, we have it in abundance.
They know their views are repugnant to civilized people. They’re not capable of understanding why, but they’re not capable of coping with the consequences either. They’re incompetent losers all the way around.
