A Marine is facing disciplinary action after smuggling a woman into the home of Britain's Trident submarine fleet in the boot of his car.
It is understood that he was caught with the woman as he escorted her out of the high-security base at Faslane.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) said the Marine had been interviewed following "a potential breach of security" at HM Naval Base Clyde on 12 March.
A spokesman said the matter was now subject to an internal investigation.
"We can confirm a member of the naval service was interviewed by MoD police following a report of a potential breach of security at HMNB Clyde on 12 March," he said.
"It's not Navy command policy to divulge personal details. The matter is now subject to an internal investigation."
Two Navy personnel were detained by police last month after a weapon was discharged at the base.
Officers recovered an air rifle from a room following reports of a shot fired from an accommodation block on 12 February.

This would never happen if Marines were allowed to marry.

He may have been attempting to reach critical mass by inspecting her plutonium trigger. (Did I hear a rimshot somewhere?)
He was taking her to the sub races!
I hope he didn’t blow the ballast tanks prematurely, otherwise it’s unlikely she’ll be interested in visiting the torpedo room with him again.
Well, one hopes that someone who would break security like that didn’t have his finger on the button. (Bah-dump-pish)
Do you suppose he was called on the carpet?
