Now that ObamaCare has become law rather than just the fevered dream of leftie bloggers, it is time to begin discovering what is in it. David Hogberg begins the process at Investor’s Business Daily.
1. You are young and dont want health insurance? You are starting up a small business and need to minimize expenses, and one way to do that is to forego health insurance? Tough. You have to pay $750 annually for the privilege. (Section 1501)
2. You are young and healthy and want to pay for insurance that reflects that status? Tough. Youll have to pay for premiums that cover not only you, but also the guy who smokes three packs a day, drink a gallon of whiskey and eats chicken fat off the floor. Thats because insurance companies will no longer be able to underwrite on the basis of a persons health status. (Section 2701).
3. You would like to pay less in premiums by buying insurance with lifetime or annual limits on coverage? Tough. Health insurers will no longer be able to offer such policies, even if that is what customers prefer. (Section 2711).
4. Think youd like a policy that is cheaper because it doesnt cover preventive care or requires cost-sharing for such care? Tough. Health insurers will no longer be able to offer policies that do not cover preventive services or offer them with cost-sharing, even if thats what the customer wants. (Section 2712).
5. You are an employer and you would like to offer coverage that doesnt allow your employers slacker children to stay on the policy until age 26? Tough. (Section 2714).
6. You must buy a policy that covers ambulatory patient services, emergency services, hospitalization, maternity and newborn care, mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment; prescription drugs; rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices; laboratory services; preventive and wellness services; chronic disease management; and pediatric services, including oral and vision care.
Youre a single guy without children? Tough, your policy must cover pediatric services. Youre a woman who cant have children? Tough, your policy must cover maternity services. Youre a teetotaler? Tough, your policy must cover substance abuse treatment. (Add your own violation of personal freedom here.) (Section 1302).
7. Do you want a plan with lots of cost-sharing and low premiums? Well, the best you can do is a Bronze plan, which has benefits that provide benefits that are actuarially equivalent to 60% of the full actuarial value of the benefits provided under the plan. Anything lower than that, tough. (Section 1302 (d) (1) (A))
8. You are an employer in the small-group insurance market and youd like to offer policies with deductibles higher than $2,000 for individuals and $4,000 for families? Tough. (Section 1302 (c) (2) (A).
9. If you are a large employer (defined as at least 101 employees) and you do not want to provide health insurance to your employee, then you will pay a $750 fine per employee (It could be $2,000 to $3,000 under the reconciliation changes). Think you know how to better spend that money? Tough. (Section 1513).
10. You are an employer who offers health flexible spending arrangements and your employees want to deduct more than $2,500 from their salaries for it? Sorry, cant do that. (Section 9005 (i)).
Go here to read the rest. The first impact most voters will feel from ObamaCare will be increased cost for the private insurace that they pay for or their employers pay for as none of these government mandates pay for themselves. As I pay every cent of my own insurance I am especially appreciative of that fact and can’t wait to thank the politicians responsible for this at the polls in November.
Ping!
for later reading.
PING!!!
No to worry! Now you can be a slacker and have your parents pick up your insurance bill until you're 26.
That isn’t the half of it!
Well when it gets implemented I’m signing up for lots of preventative care. Does it include messages and acupuncture? Also I think I will need substance abuse treatment even if I don’t use, and anger management treatment which I really will need. Also, I will be depressed and need therapy and lots of psych drugs which I may forget to take. Economic terrorism will accelerate the collapse. We may have to tear it all down before we can rebuild our nation.
.
You either go out of business, or lower your wages and raise your product prices... ok, so you go out of business.
Also the insurance companies must charge men and women the same exact amount, redistributing wealth from men to women as women have higher medical costs. On car insurance though, women will continue to enjoy lower premiums. Heads women win, tails men lose.
Anyone know?
Our local talk show on KSEV hosted by Texas Senator Dan Patrick was talking about the 4% tax on proceeds from the sale of private residences and the 3.8% tax on passive income - ahhhhh Obamacare - the gift that keeps on giving!
Imagine 30 million new patients with insurance plans that pay the providers 60% of the treatment cost. there will be no doctors accepting new patients and they will all end up back in the ER for primary care. The good news is we get this for only 940 billion.
I can’t find my birth certificate and my step father left my mom, but still has health insurance. Can I stay on his plan without proving my date of birth?
So what did we learn this weekend? That the health care reform bill is such a big idea that it doesn't matter what's in it. It's such a big idea, in fact, that that's all those dopes voted for - the idea. Because they really don't know what's in the bill anyway. They couldn't have - it's 2,700 pages. This was, essentially, a "yes" vote on Shangri-la.
The argument was never about health care. It was about whether America can survive when strapped with another massive entitlement program, one in which we've been deceived about cost. Essentially Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama (Obamalosi, for short) looked at our crumbling economy, weighed down by three massive entitlement programs (Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid), and thought: let's have a fourth. Let's go all in on unfunded entitlements.
The worst part? The lies. Seriously: How can anyone say this is going to save money?
I wanna show you a graph from Nick Gillespie's great piece at Reason.com
Check out the estimated cost of Medicare. 12 billion. Now check out its actual cost. 110 billion. They were only off by 900 percent.
Welcome to Greece, people. Jump in, the water's warm.
Let's look at all arguments for health care. First they tried to sell the thing on moral grounds. Didn't work. Then on efficiency grounds. Still didn't work. Then they switched to saving money. Thirty million new people to insure, and somehow they convinced themselves it'll save us money! Using the same logic, we should insure Canada too! We'd really be saving cash then!
Look - universal health care is a beautiful idea. But so is getting a pony for your fifth birthday.
When daddy argues with little Susie over that pony, she doesn't care about how they're going to afford the pony. She doesn't care if they have to mortgage the house to pay for the pony. She just wants that pony.
But see, daddy is supposed to know that. And daddy isn't supposed to actually buy the pony! And, most of all, he isn't supposed to tell everyone in earshot that it's cheaper having that pony - than having a car.
But he just did. And the media, and the Dems - fell in line like a classroom of five year old girls.
They didn't just buy the pony. They just bought the whole damn farm.
No problem. If I run out of money I’ll just steal it from the neighborhood Democrats. That’s how we do things in Obama’s America.
That's what my Dr told me months ago - they will not take new patients and particularly Medicare as the payments are too low and slow.
This bill is an act of war against We the People.
