Bart Stupaks surrender on ObamaCare likely signals the end of pro-life Democrats, as several commentators have noted. But Sundays votes also may mark the end of Democrats revival in the South and Midwest. The party made a concerted effort in 2006 and 2008 to recruit candidates that could win moderate or GOP-leaning districts. Thats a key reason why Democrats won such big congressional majorities. But after forging a big-tent caucus, Speaker Pelosi has not governed that way. Instead, she pushed Blue Dog and other moderate Democrats to vote as if they represented her San Francisco district.

It doesn't matter what they personally believe, if anything. They are dependent on the Dem Party machine for the resources to get re-elected (including union members to "volunteer" for them), which means they MUST vote as they are told on any issue the Dem leadership decides is vital.
Heath Shuler (D-NC) is from the 11th Congressional District,
and stood by his NO vote on the Health Care bill. I am neither a Dem or Republican, but I credit Shuler for making a stand against abortion. Like it or not, he stood with his constituents.
I understand that Virginia Fox, Larry Kissell, and Mike McIntyre also voted No! My thanks to them.
They will bear the brunt as they deceived conservative Dems and Indies. Payback is tough.
“I look forward eagerly to November.”
So do I. We can show them what real hope and change is. We need to have this as part of our campaign:
Investigate, Impeach, Indict and Prosecute!! This should resonate with the masses which will be calling for blood.
Thank you Jim Robinson and Freepers!!!.... for enlarging my understanding on this, and on many other matters we daily see debated and argued......ultimately the truth surfaces and becomes clear.
Just drop the “blue” part to properly characterize these socialists in the Democrat Socialist Party.
they are pretty much all dirty dog democrats.
that is an insult to man’s best friend.
The definition provided by Charlie Stenholm when they created the moniker, "A Blue Dog Democrat is a Yellow Dog Democrat who has been choked."
They are not simply pro-life Dems, it is as you say, feint conservative in order to secure the seat, then fold, cave, vote as the Progressive/Liberal leadership require when it REALLY counts.
“...Investigate, Impeach, Indict and Prosecute...”
That takes balls on the part of those gaining control; up to this point, I have no faith in the GOP to do so.
I hope they prove me wrong. After the royal buggering the GOP just took in the House and Senate, one would THINK they’d be incensed enough to hold this grudge...
Again, I hope they prove me wrong and go after these b*stards with vigor. A housecleaning is sorely needed.
Instead, I think the GOP’s 2010 campaign should be entitled:
“TIME TO TAKE OUT THE TRASH, AMERICA”
And then DO it.
They still gotta go.
Nancy Pelosi counted up the votes and let some of em vote no.
If they had been needed, they would of flipped to yes.
No democrat can get a pass on this regardless of their vote.
Yesterday we got ‘Stupaked’... Big Time.
Before you try to know what a Blue Dog Democrat is you must understand fully what a Yellow Dog Democrat is, why the "I'd vote for a yellow dog before I'd vote for any Republican" came into being.
I think the game has changed. There is going to be a response to this but the new people getting voted in may very well have a lynch mob mentality who combined with other incumbents who feel like we do form a majority to go about real reform.
I love your slogan for 2010, it is totally appropriate.
There are only Traitorous Democrats.
They Swear an Oath to Protect and Defend the Constitution of the United States of America, and they Violate that Oath every Day of their lives.
Next to pro-life Democrats, Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are the real deal.
RE SLogan:
Then spread it around. All over FR.
I was raised to take a man at his word until he proved himself to be untrustworthy because of a lie. Until that time, I was taught to stand with men with like morals and principles until the end. Shuler may at sometime prove me wrong, then I will owe you an apology. Right now, I choose to stand with him.
I have to say I was surprised to see Jim Matheson voted “no.” I didn’t think he had the moral fiber to buck the party. He certainly hasn’t in the past.
Scratch a blue dog, find a yellow dog underneath.
