[history]
When I asked John McCain what he would say to his old friend Ted Kennedy this morning, he smiled and said "Congratulations."
But he had nothing good to say about the legislation that passed the House late last night.
Calling it "a massive government takeover of the health care system," he promised the GOP would fight it on all fronts: challenging the reconciliation "fix" bill in the Senate, moving more broadly to repeal the bill later this year, questioning its Constitutionality in the courts and, of course, hoping to reap electoral gains come November.

His reaction reveals that this is all just a personal game to him. It’s all about him, his power, his prestige, his self-aggrandizement. Just a game. Congratulations indeed.

I would say to Kennedy: “Hot enough for ya? Well... Better make room for Stupak”.

That McCain... likes the moniker Maverick... more like and old worn out petting zoo pony.

Dear Senator McCain, you served this country valiantly and well, beyond the call of duty, in Vietnam. For that service, I am eternally indebted to you.
Please, for the sake of yourself, us, and posterity, do not tarnish that record of selfless service anymore with your fatal attraction to the statists and totalitarians in our Congress. These are the same people who, if they had their way, would have quite happily made common cause with your jailors at the Hanoi Hilton - as some of them in fact did. Please retire, and do so in a timely fashion so that we may choose a worthwhile successor to continue taking the fight to the fascists who now infest the very halls of Congress.

Was trying to think of the first place to contribute money this morning after last night. Was thinking either Stupaks’s opponent or J.D. Hayworth for starters.

Oh, he'll find some "fire" when a fellow Republican (ie, Hayworth) opposes him.
I swear, this is why I get so cynical about the whole thing. Even taking into account the times I see them at their most impassioned, deep down I can't help wondering if they (our Republican representatives) really care as much as we do, and if they can and will sustain deep opposition to this imposition of marxism upon us, or if what we're not seeing on the TV screen is the usual back-slapping and "collegiality" with the rats. To me, this is WAR, and I wonder if they realise that, or if they really care enough.

I wondered where the Obamacare’s mandate to cover offspring on their parents’ policy through age 26 came from until I read this morning that Romneycare has the exact same thing (or through two years past IRS-filing dependency, whichever comes first).
I think we already know one MSM candidate we need to avoid in 2012.

This reminds me of a monment after he was defeated. He was interviewed on Leno or Letterman (not sure which), and was asked about losing the election and he said:
“Oh, I’ll be fine.”
I was ALWAYS about him.

Dear McLoser,
Your time for "the fight" was during the last election cycle.
Thanks for nothing.

From what I’ve read, the illegals are “entitled” (as usual) to the benefits, but exempt from the penalties. That right there should be enough to stir Americans to see we are being tyrannised, but it’s not.

Much of her (specious) argument for supporting McCain was that we need him to help lead the fight against Obamacare. I wonder what her pitch will be now. Surely not that we need to help fight amnesty or cap and trade?
To: mrsmel
the msm will ignore that little discrepancy. if we point it out we are “racist”.

Didn’t Sarah make some statement last week about what a hero Stupak was for “standing up for life?”
Poor judgement. I WAS a supporter, still am, but I don’t think she has the judgement to be President now.
McCain could be explained away as “loyalty” (I never bought it) but the Stupid Stupak thing was over the “bright” line.
