It Will Not Stand
Heritage Foundation ^ | 3-21-10

Members of the House of Representatives tonight approved President Obama’s health care agenda, the biggest expansion of government power since the Great Society. The Obama health care legislation is universal in scope and will profoundly impact the personal lives of more than 300 million Americans.

It will restrict our personal freedom while undercutting the independence and authority of the several states.

This unprecedented congressional action will give Washington control over the content of health benefits packages; the kind of health insurance available to Americans and the organization and regulation of health insurance markets.

This has been accompanied by one of the most shocking Congressional exhibition of arrogance and special interest deal-making in memory.

In 1774, in response to the first Tea Party, the British Parliament issued a series of acts designed to control the colonists, stop their protests and restrict their liberty. The Americans called these “The Intolerable Acts.”

Obamacare is today’s Intolerable Act. In poll after poll, in town hall meetings, in popular protests and in special elections, ordinary Americans have declared their firm opposition to this scheme, only to be derisively dismissed.

This imposition of legislation is intolerable for two reasons:

* Process: The outrageous way in which this massive restructuring of one six of the economy has been pushed through.

* Substance: Huge obligation shifted to future generations, a huge lurch toward European-style welfare states.

The Heritage Foundation will have a full answer to Congress’ action tomorrow and in the days and weeks and months to come.

We will do all within our power to recommend, and make the intellectual case for, the repeal of these acts.

We will help marshal the full resources of the conservative movement for this cause. You can join the fight to keep America the Land of the Free today

Fortunately, there are no permanent victories or defeats in Washington. For millions of Americans and for Heritage, Round One of this fight is over. Tomorrow morning, we are answering the bell.

I think it will make it’s way to the court fairly quickly, 5 or 6 months. I can’t even come up with a constitutional argument in favor of an individual mandate.

Yeah, without the unconstitutional part the entire plan falls apart. Which is fine with me.

"how many fools are willing to let that happen is the million dollar question."

I think you got your answer tonight. They think it will be like Norway or Canada, But America has well over 300 million people. After the next week or so, I will be completely out of the US dollar as a store of wealth. I no longer see that shining city on the hill, I see venezuela.

Jer 30

5. For thus says the Lord; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace:
6. Ask now, and see whether a man labors with child? Why do I see every man with his hands on his loins, like a woman in labor, and all faces are turned to paleness:
7. Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it; it is a time of trouble for Jacob; but he shall be saved out of it:
8. For it shall come to pass in that day, says the Lord of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off your neck, and will burst your bonds, and strangers shall no more enslave him:
9. But they shall serve the Lord their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up to them:
10. Therefore do not fear, O my servant Jacob, says the Lord; nor be dismayed, O Israel; for, behold, I will save you from afar, and your seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be quiet and at ease, and none shall make him afraid:
11. For I am with you, says the Lord, to save you; though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you, yet I will not make a full end of you; but I will correct you in due measure, and will not leave you altogether unpunished:
12. For thus says the Lord, Your hurt is incurable, and your wound is grievous:
13. There is none to plead your cause, that you may be bound up; you have no healing medicines:

It is the time of Jacob's trouble:

It will make it to the first fed court in 6 months on the rocket docket, but after that it slows to a crawl and there will be appeals. I'm thinkin 2 to 3 years.

Obama will be making a pick before the year is out IMO.

If we, get a group of States together and pull out the tenth amendment, we could form a new government and cut the old out of the loop. We could appoint our own SCOTUS. Elect our own reps, and appoint a new senate taking the constitution back to where it worked as a e republic and not a damn democracy that favors population centers and collections of voting blocks wanting free-bees that other must pay for.

We could isolate the remaining states, and they would kill each other. Ending our problems for at least two generations.

That’s all well and good, and there’s always an important role for religion and faith in any important endeavor, but right now we need some kick-ass radicals of our own, from the most accomplished lawyers all the way down to the most ruthless politicains and street brawlers we can find.

In 1774, in response to the first Tea Party, the British Parliament issued a series of acts designed to control the colonists, stop their protests and restrict their liberty. The Americans called these “The Intolerable Acts.”

One of the acts, the Declaratory Act of 1766, stated Parliament had sovereignty over the colonies in "in all cases whatsoever."

Those four words incited the colonists more than any tax. They were blasphemous. Only God had sovereignty in all cases whatsoever.

This health rationing/tax revenue bill is similar to that declaration of power. There is nothing in our lives over which Pelosi, Reid and Obama do not claim to have sovereignty.

Thanks for that. “We have not yet begun to fight” is not just a quote from a history book. And we will be adding a few of our own.
