Record 71% disapprove of governor, poll shows { Schwarzenegger won't be back!}

More Californians disapprove of the job performance of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger than any governor in modern state history including Gray Davis, who was ousted by Schwarzenegger in a popular uprising, according to a Field Poll released today.

Seventy-one percent of California voters surveyed said they disapprove of Schwarzenegger's handling of the job, while 23 percent approve. The low ratings are shared across all demographics including party affiliation, region of the state, age and race or ethnicity.

"Schwarzenegger still has a persona that appeals to people, but the real problem is he's presiding over a terrible time in California history and he doesn't seem to have made it any better," said Field Poll Director Mark DiCamillo.

The governor's numbers are nearly identical to those of Davis in the run-up to the recall. In August 2003, 70 percent of California disapproved of how Davis did the job while 22 percent approved.

Schwarzenegger's low rating is driven by the severe economic downturn, DiCamillo said, while Davis touted his experience and competence when he ran for office only to be undermined by the energy crisis.

Anger over joblessness

Aaron McLear, a spokesman for Schwarzenegger, said people are upset about the state's high unemployment rate, a dysfunctional budget system and "a state employee pension system that is crushing the rest of state government."

I sort of agree with you about Governor Shriver, The State is in a mess, But He GAVE UP ALONG TIME AGO. He knew The Budgets he signed were Fraudulent, He decided to Paper over the Unsurmountable Debt and Refinance everything. Governor SHriver should have Vetoed EVERYTHING. Governor Shriver should have Shut Down Fedzilla with the Militia,(Think Klamath Falls),when they decided to Close the San Joaquin Valley. Governor Shriver should have been going up and down the State informing the Public about the upcoming Public Retirement System Implosion. Governor Shriver should have starting siezing the assets of Federal Employees to pay for Federal Mandates, using the Kelo Decision as Justification. Bankrupt every Federal Employee in The State and run them out of Here. Instead he touts his Global Warming Religion and sucks up to Obama. Yes I blame it on Governor Shriver, he just plays a tough guy in the movies. He is No John Wayne. He is just a guy who was born and raised a socialist/ Marxist and moved to the US and then MArried into the Leadership Of The Communist Party. That’s who Governor Shriver is, just a wuss

'The only thing that Schwarzenegger did wrong was constantly caving in to the Democrats. Why don’t those people disapprove of their legislators?'

Yes! Your post nails it.

...I can tell you right now that if I were to see Assemblyman Marty Block (CA 78th District), I'd tell him point blank that I'm going to ensure he is defeated in this next election. While I do not in any way defend Schwarzenegger's actions, it is Democrats like Block who have voted for horrendous taxes like the additional 10% on our paychecks, and spending boondoggles that have earned a failing bond status grade from Moody's'. And it also doesn't help with the way the MSM constantly makes it seem as though the Governor is solely responsible for these disasters, or the hard cold fact that our education system fails to teach Civics anymore.

Arlen Schwarzenegger will forever be known as a girly-man, RINO, weak-kneed, sellout, Keynesian convert, and Democrat fool.
