If The Obamakazis Don't Have The Votes, Does Pelosi Pull Back the Bill?

Posted on 03/20/2010 8:28:23 AM PDT by paul in cape

If they are a few votes short, but believe that the country is behind them, wouldn't it make more sense to try to get the votes thru normal procedures? The Obamakazis (don't you just love that word!!) know that their collective gooses are cooked unless they actually have a vote.

I think the arm-twisting and bribing will continue until they DO have the votes.

You don`t schedule a vote unless you have the votes.

It`s a done deal.

It passes with about 222 votes.

The courts will not consider the Art.1 Sect 7 argument.

Mandating insurance will be considered by the courts

Govt Deathcare will NEVER be repealed.

I can’t wait until the House & Senate judiciary committees are taken over by the GOP in November and we start hauling former Democratic congressmen in under oath and ask them what they and their friends and relatives were promised for their yes vote.

Then we start the impeachment proceedings for Obama for gross corruption.

If the She, Who Must Be Obeyed, calls for a vote, the Socialization and De-Capitalization Act of 2010 passes.

Absolutely.

If Pelosi isn’t confident that the votes are there tomorrow, the bill will get pulled back for another day.

I think they’d want to have at least 3 or 4 more than they need to be certain.

The possibility of a double cross switcheroo at the last moment by one or more Democrat congressfolk concerned about their future employment prospects is there. A few extra are certainly needed to prevent that.

EVERYONE is EXPECTING a vote TOMORROW. If Mistress Nancy can’t Whip (it) the little men into submission by tomorrow she will have to hang up her whip.

You do if you don’t plan to vote on it but rather deem it passed.

I think she does a kamikaze dive into the vote not knowing if she has 216 “yes” votes. In so doing she hopes to give the impression to fence-sitters that it is all good for passage and they can safely vote “yes” assuming they will not be vote number “216” (remember Marjorie Margolies Mezvinsky?).

Of course, this can blow up in her face. If the “no” vote hits 216 then it’s Katy-bar-the-door as every remaining Dem with a vote will scamper for cover behind a “no” vote and it becomes a blow-out loss for her and Obama.

But she has no choice but to roll the dice. Time is NOT on her side.

My hope is that some fed-up congressmen tell Pelosi they will vote yes, then vote no on the actual vote. Once the vote starts, it’s too late to pull it back.

You don`t schedule a vote unless you have the votes. You can schedule a vote. If it comes down to the scheduled time, and you don't have the votes, you simply postpone the vote for a later time.
It`s a done deal.It passes with about 222 votes. Is this your opinion? Or do you have some sort of inside track that no one else appears to have?
The courts will not consider the Art.1 Sect 7 argument.
Again...how do you know this? Or is it - again - your opinion?
Govt Deathcare will NEVER be repealed. That which is passed by congress can be repealed, changed, or deleted by congress. It all depends on who is in congress at the time.

IMO, if she knows she won’t have 216, she won’t bring the bill to the floor. The Senate bill is viable until the end of the 111th Congress, which means she can bring it up again immediately after the November 2nd elections, when she will have a whole bunch of lame ducks who will be more willing to vote with her.

I could see Pelosi scheduling a vote if she thought she had as many votes as she'd ever get and thought that she might win. If the public is trending away from this bill and this process (and I think we are) it is better to do or die now than to just fizzle out. Win or lose this has gone on too long already.

1. I love the idea. I hope some of them have thought of it.

2. There are no rules any more. Pelosi will keep sniffing at this like a dog trying to get its nose into a toilet bowl - never giving up.
