More from Michelle Malkin:

[previous question] is a vote against the Slaughter Solution. ”

Update 2:26pm Eastern. Final vote 222-203 with six not voting. Remember in November.

More from The Hill:

All Republican lawmakers who voted opposed the measure, which had the effect of ending the GOP’s effort to force a vote. They were joined by 28 Democrats, who broke with party members on the vote.

222 Democrats supported the measure, though, meaning enough to proceed. Three members of both parties did not vote.

Republicans had hoped for the separate vote to get Democratic lawmakers on record on the Senate bill, which includes some provisions on abortion, excise taxes, and other issues that House lawmakers find distasteful.

As this stand[s], Democrats plan a vote on a rule on Sunday that would make changes to the Senate-passed bill while deeming the original legislation to have passed the House.

Update 2:46pm Eastern. Here’s the roll call vote.

Those who didn’t vote:

Dem Ackerman
GOP Hastings (WA)
GOP Hoekstra
Dem Lofgren, Zoe
Dem Stark
GOP Westmoreland (Update: Was on his way to ICU for grandson, according to a constituent who contacted his office)

The 28 Dems who joined Republicans in opposing deem-and-pass cramdown:

Adler (NJ)
Arcuri
Boren
Bright
Carney
Childers
Cooper
Costello
Dahlkemper
Davis (AL)
Giffords
Herseth Sandlin
Holden
Kosmas
Kratovil
Lipinski
McIntyre
McNerney
Melancon
Michaud
Minnick
Mitchell
Nye
Perriello
Shuler
Stupak
Taylor
Teague

Question: Why did Democrats Jason Altmire and Stephen Lynch, who both have voiced public opposition to Deem-and-Pass tactics, support the Slaughter House resolution?

Jim Geraghty breaks out the vulnerable Dems including Altmire and Lynch who cast seppuku votes.

Ace of Spades: “I am getting really worried, because if 222 Democrats voted for this unconstitutional, very-unpopular maneuver, doesn’t that mean that all 222 will also vote for the bill itself? Why vote for this if you’re not going to vote for that?”

They will be granted Indulgences by Pope Pelosi to officially vote against it so they can keep their seats.

They won't.

And as much as this guy wants to be a pundit, IF Pelosi had 216 for any bill ( even the Slaughter dance) she would have just voted that. Truth is there are still folks on the fence ( ie waiting to see which way the crap statrs to roll)...

If they are forced to pass this Bill with that false method, even though they have a 70 vote majority in the House, it will expose the Bill as a fraud and abomination.

I don't buy it. If this were already a done deal then Zero would not have cancelled his Asia trip. I think he cancelled because they are not yet confident they have the votes.

Also, check out Michael Barone's analysis of this preliminary vote here.

You’d better tell Rush and the others. They don’t seem to have this secret information.

If Pelosi had 222 votes to pass the Senate bill straight up, SHE WOULD ALREADY HAVE DONE SO.

Dear American men,

Sack DC...tell them to retire or hang.

It is your duty and obligation.

Signed, your loving wives and children

I’m confused.

I understand the slaughter house passed Thursday and if the democrats use it, then Obamacare has effectively passed unless the consitutional challenges stop it.

What then are the democrats voting on this weekend?

I hate to tell readers this, but Obamacare passed on Thursday at 2:22 PM. That was when the House approved the Slaughter solution 222-203.

NO THEY DIDN'T!!!

Grrr.. this is getting frustrating. There has been NO VOTE on the so-called "Slaughter Solution". This was a preemptive (and not expected to pass) tactic by the GOP to preclude the "Slaughter solution" from even being introduced.

Regardless of how they eventually intend to vote on "Slaughter", members of the majority generally get their hackles up when the minority tries to force rules. The fact that it didn't fail on a nearly straight party-line vote shows how weak the Democrats' position is.

If process doesn’t matter, and the Constitution isn’t worth the paper it is written on, our options become infinite.

If Obamacare had REALLY passed, as the author of this article claims, we would be hearing nothing but Breaking News butt-ins on TV since Thursday afternoon.

He must be doing one of those push things liberals like to do just before an election is decided in order to make it appear as though their side is ahead.

If they “secretly” had the votes for this mess, the vote would have already been taken and the thing passed. The Slaughter nonsense would be out along with the rest of the fraud and deceit. A hell of a lot can happen in DC in a few days and Hussein and the rest of the radical, fascist left would NOT take any chances if they had the enslavement of the American people in their hands.

What they missed was that Pelosi got her majority while letting Democrats from conservative districts off the hook.

Sorry, but these Deems can't be this stupid. They have to know that their re-election chances in November already are slim, regardless of what happens with this monstrosity. They aren't being let off the hook, they are being led to the gallows.

Good question. This power grab to turn the U.S. into a fascist dictatorship is just the beginning. Once these skunks succeed in ruling by fiat, they will stop at nothing. Next up: Cap & Tax, then Mex-Peasant Amnesty. Last stop will come this November, when Comrade Zero dismisses ACORN and SEIU gangsterism at the polls and “deems” the mid-term elections to have returned the sitting Democrat majority.

Democrats are so corrupting America’s political process that sooner or later honest citizens will have to take direct, collective action in their personal defense. The form such action takes remains to be seen; but Obama’s cancerous tyranny will metasticize, and we will find ourselves at the point of no return: liberty or death. I do not advocate violence. I do support effective resistance as necessary to protect our Constitutional government, and through it our lives and freedom, from malicious destruction by this odious gang of thugs.
