For the last several years, Sean Hannity and the Freedom Alliance charity have conducted Freedom Concerts across America. Theyve told you that they are raising money to pay for the college tuition of the children of fallen soldiers and to pay severely wounded war vets. And on Friday Night, Hannity will be honored with an award for this Outstanding Community Service by a Radio Talk Show Host at Talkers Magazines convention.
But its all a huge scam.

Went to one of Sean Hannity’s Freedom Concerts maybe 6 years ago in Cincinnati. Reasonably well done, kind of a pep rally type deal. Although I followed Hannityâs talk radio show off & on for several years I haven’t listened to him in quite some time, to much of the same spiel over & over ... boring. As far a flow thru revenue to charitable causes as a result of Hannity’s Freedom Concert Tours ... no surprise, front end costs ... especially if you’re making little effort to control them will quickly erode revenue slated for any charities. Hannity is a grandstander ...
So the “Red Cross” that has many multi million dollar employees is ok? They keep 20% of their “earnings”...
Lets find out the other side before we get all over this guy.
At their link (Freedom Alliance) they explain the low scholarships out. Most of those killed had young children. They are investing the money and it is being run as a trust fund for when the younger children are college age.
Sounds like law suit time.
What annoys me most about his show is that he'll spend so much time hawking who is to appear on his television show later that night, and who he will be talking to later in that very same radio program.
His gushing over Lieberman is (or was?) over the top!
Hannity also loved it when Obama "attacked" him (Hannity's words) and played those clips over and over.
Say what you want about Debbie Shussel, it looks as if she did her homework, but I would like to hear the story from Ollie North.
If you are referring to the $0.09 fundraising efficiency number that Debby Schussel referenced in her article from one of the Charity Watchdog groups then there is nothing to worry about because it appears that she got that number backwards. The nine cents is how much they spend in fundraising expenses to raise a dollar and a low number is good here. A large number on the other hand would indicate that they spend most of the money they raise on fundraising expenses.
How do you know that?
“I think I will wait for Hannity to speak. I dont dump mid stream.”
I appreciate the sentiment but he has been given a chance to respond, apparently, and chosen not to.
I agree with you about having more money go to the charity. But...putting on an elaborate show is not cheap...I really do believe Hannity is âgivingâ as much as possible once expenses are paid (even if many believe that the expenses are steep).
Schlussel has made herself largely irrelevant. If only Hannity were irrelevant. I consider him to be one of the worst things about the “conservative movement” today.
I hope this turns out to be a large misunderstanding on Schlussel’s part, simply because I despise the left and their socialism more than I want to see Hannity damaged in this way. Although, if you all stopped paying attention to him and dug into some intellectual steak instead of Hannity’s bubble-gum pop type of conservatism, that would be cool.
I guess I’m a snob.
It appears from mgstarr’s link, that the Freedom Alliance has a better rating than the Red Cross.. lol
I stopped paying attention to him awhile ago, but when I used to be a Mark Levin listener (Mark got a tad old after his book was published), Hannity would horn his way onto his show every week or so. I guess Sean wasn't satisfied with a daily radio AND television show.
Researching a little online. Looks like there are a lot of charities out there who give only pennies on the dollar. So, if this is even true, it’s not that unusual. I can’t imagine what some of the costs are when putting together concerts. Stadium costs, travel expenses, food, safety, insurances and so forth.
Yes, good eye. Watching all these posters make fools of themselves is quite entertaining though.....
Something along this line was suggested to me a year ago, but I thought the guy was off base. The numbers on the tax form however, IF TRUE, are devastating.
He does this to do two things. The write offs equal the take after the donations, and there is no taxes to deal with on the federal level after all State and local are paid.
All of these types of operations do this in the same way like the farm concerts and any other. The donations are sometimes large but that is not the norm. It could be 2 cents. It's a business first, a business needs to cover it's expenses and anything left over is gravy. He donates the gravy.
That's how capitalism works.
Is she misstating the figures from their 990 filings? If not, it sure sounds problematic to me.
BTW, I’m no fan of Debbie S. at all.
Looking at these replies I thought I was on a SEIU site.
