Fess Parker -- who played Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone -- has died of natural causes ... a rep confirms with TMZ.
Parker -- who also starred in "Old Yeller" -- owned the DoubleTree Resort in Santa Barbara and the Wine Country Inn & Spa in Los Olivos, CA.
Parker married Marcella Rinehart in 1960. They had two kids.
He was 85.
Sad, but another star from my youth. Luckily lived to a ripe age.
“King of The River” also as I seem to recall. Mike Fink, was another character I believe.
He did incredibly well investing in land in the Santa Ynez Valley. Nice tasting room at his vineyard, although the wine wasn’t that hot compared to some others along Foxen Canyon Road. The wine glasses that you got to keep after the tasting were etched with little coonskin caps.
He was a good solid conservative, too. RIP.
I remember how BIG it was to have a coonskin hat. (And a Zorro sword set after the 1958-59 Disney Zorro series aired.)
By golly, you are right! It WAS Clint Walker. I got the two confused.
Fess, God Bless you. Not only were you a man’s man, you are off the hook for having “starred” in “Killdozer.”
The Disney channel would do well if it ran Daniel Boone reruns.
Better than the spoiled pre-teen type shows that make up their programming.
(yes, I know that’ll never happen)
Bummer. Great guy. Somewhere tucked away I have an autographed photo of Mr. Parker.
a sad day for all of us that loved watching him portray davie & daniel...RIP Mr Parker..you will be sadly missed but fondly remembered......
>> He was 85.
82 years after he “killed him a bear”.
Actually, I didn’t know he was still alive. I need to find that old Crockett movie on DVD. God rest his soul.

Mike Fink was the "king of the river". I just got done teaching a unit on Mike Fink to my unbelievably clueless 7th grade.
RIP Mr. Parker.
Yes, RIP, to a well-loved actor and great gentleman.
A good guy from when America was a happier place.
Born on a mountaintop on Tennessee, greenest state in the land of the free
Kilt him a ba’ar when he was only 3.....
Disney Channel doesn’t do that anymore. Waaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day the Disney Channel’s daily lineup included Zorro, the Mickey Mouse Club and the Wonderful World of Disney. But they have not done that in years.
If they were smart they would start a new Disney channel called “Vault Disney” and just program all of their old shows. It would do very well.
Yancy
Seems like a rather common denominator among FReepers!
