Perspectives on Communism from a Russian Immigrant
CDS ^ | 3/18/2010 | Svetlana Kunin

Posted on 03/18/2010 11:18:16 AM PDT by ezfindit

In the USSR, economic equality was achieved by redistributing wealth, ensuring that everyone remained poor, with the exception of those doing the redistributing. Only the ruling class of communist leaders had access to special stores, medicine and accommodations that could compare to those in the West. [...]

Socialism has bankrupted and failed every society, while capitalism has lifted more people out of poverty than any other system.

There is no perfect society. There are no perfect people. Critics say that greed is the driving force of capitalism. My answer is that envy is the driving force of socialism. Change to socialism is not an improvement on the imperfections of the current system.

Spread the word. It has been 20 years since the USSR collapsed. That means we have one whole generation that is utterly clueless.

“In the USSR, economic equality was achieved by redistributing wealth, ensuring that everyone remained poor, with the exception of those doing the redistributing. Those two sentences say it all.

“Capitalism is the only system..”

I agree with your posting in principle, however I would like to make one small clarification. Capitalism is not an economic system, instead it is the natural state of an economy. It is natural that we operate in a manner that is most beneficial to ourselves. Self interest is a natural motivator.

Good find, good post. Thanks.

What we MUST remember is that Obozo and his LIEberal/Marxist/Socialist/Fascist camp followers will “achieve economic equality” by redistributing our wealth and ensuring that everyone, except those doing the redistributing, remains poor.

Only the Obozo ruling class will have access to special stores, medicine and accommodations — the rest of us are shit out of luck!

WE MUST STOP THEM NOW!

Communists just see Jesus as another tool.

They use anything for power over another human being.

Like all their doctrines nothing is sacred or sincere save their need for meddling control over others.

They hate the Bible because it references a power greater than themselves.

A lot better article on the same subject is ‘Goodbye, America!’ by Mark Zaltsberg, an ethnic Russian professor of Houston Univercity. Too bad it is not available in English.
As for socialism it is amusing how it is on the rise in the West now, while conservatism is growing in a former East block, including Russia and China.

I like that, but there are some places that disagree with your (and my) opinion — Sweden for example with its Scandanavian socialism

I don’t find it amusing and I wish your book recommendation was in English.

If only our government school children weren’t reading JD Salinger instead.

"Capitalism is not an economic system, instead it is the natural state of an economy."

After traveling around Shia areas of Iraq in 2004 I can substantiate that statement. Capitalism was everywhere, the government was nonexistent. Heck, our local Hadji-Mart was staffed and run by former Republican Guards.

FAntastic articles! These are a must read. I’ve forwarded them to a lot of people I know — because we all believe that Sweden was somehow an exception, yet it seems they were living off the good times before WWII (in which they did not participate)

Salinger is over-rated. I read him and found the catcher in the rye to be completely devoid of reason and sanity.

Exactly. And it took the Swedish socialists only twenty five years to squander the inheritance that took their predecessors a hundred years to build.
