In this guy's mind, a tax refund is a "gift", not a "debt".
They could save a lot more money skipping the welfare checks for a month.
“The damage at this time would be far worse because if we do not pay our debts on time, it thrusts the state into a downgraded credit rating,” Paterson said.”
Uh...those refunds are a debt you owe.
ITS NOT YOUR FREAKIN MONEY!!!!
Go into a store and buy an item for $50. Give the proprietor a $100 bill. Then stand by passively while he tells you he won’t be able to give you your change until next Monday, because times are so tough.
The government needs to be denied the pleasure of spending the money they are supposed to refunding at tax time.
Why trust them? They are untrustworthy.
“IT’S MY MONEY AND I NEED IT NOW!”
here is the answer...
if you OWE NY State Tax, dont mail it in till they mail out refunds.....
It’s a sign of the economy. Kansas, North Carolina, Hawaii, and Alabama are all delaying refunds as well.
Good! I hope New Yorkers get a good dose of their government and the crooks that they voted in office. Maybe it will wake some of them up.
It won’t; the people of NY believe in socialism and have since at least the time Governor Dewey promised a “a pay as you go” variety. Then the Democrats trumped him and said there is no need to pay after all.
I have to wonder what it will take for peple to wake up and see what is happening to them?
They have options, raise the taxes, but don't ask me to spend my tax dollars on your excesses. And please don't tell me that you only get back less than your share of the federal taxes you send to Washington, that don't hunt.
That’s why I tell people who claim 0 to get a refund in April to stop either on a federal or state level. I never did that feeling I was giving a loan to the government I claimed what I was entitled to and usually broke even in April never owing or getting back more than 100)
And yet not one wasteful make work program will be terminated or even trimmed during this time. Sure, makes perfect sense in how to run a system.
I figure my tax due each year on January 1st of the tax year so that I either owe little or get back little. This year I put in an A/C system which qualifies for the 1500 credit SO, I reduced my withholding by that amount. I do not intend to lend the G anything without interest just like I don’t expect them to float my overwithholding. This is another example of why we need the “fair tax”...it gets collected when you spend, not before or after.
“They could save a lot more money skipping the welfare checks for a month.”
Or union pensions. The waste and taxpayer abuse in the state is breathtaking. An example is the ticket givers on the Thru-way. They have people standing at the entrance passing out toll cards instead of mechanizing it. These people get full bennies which I’m sure exceeds the intake from the tolls. That is only one example and there are many others where taxpayers are needlessly taken for a ride.
Since the dot.com bust my family has been hit with unemployment, either my hubby or me, that has lasted for longer periods of time. I’m at the point to where I’ve just simply had it and am preparing to relocate to somewhere that isn’t so corrupt and abusive.
maybe this coming year they should avoid the “back to school” $250 per child welfare giveaway where it appeared alot of kids needed more cigarettes and beer in order to start the school year off right.
They could then skip a similar holiday-time giveaway as well.
Heard the story yesterday that NYS wants to tax sugary drinks. By the ounce. It’s another save us from ourselves line of BS. How about Uncle Dave Patterson tell the truth - they simply want to tax us more. That they are incapable to overcome a budget fiasco brought about by failed liberal polices and financial irresponsibility.
The idiots in Albany just do not know when to stop.
We have to delay your refund so we can send $200 to every house in the ‘hood so they can buy Play Stations and flat screens.
