Well, there is no such thing as second hand soda, so I’m not sure how far the analogy will go.
Speaking of second-hand smoke. Anybody living in a city that has outlawed public smoking, or a state that is outlawing transfats (Mass., Md, Vt., Wa...), should be watching this closely. NY & NYC are the cradles of this sort of stupidity, but once liberals see that it can be done elsewhere, they can’t wait to join the party.
What if it is a pregnant woman drinking the soda?
but there is second hand fat- most noticable in theatres and airlines.
There is second hand soda, but most people are smart enough to not drink it.
Oh you know, the people get fat and put undue pressure on the medical community and it costs us all.
I’ve seen bogus studies lately about all the harm they cause but I don’t believe them, it is just like the cause Du Jour and they will make up the numbers that they need to make up to prove that sodas are killing people and costing the rest of us big bucks.
Pretty soon they’ll be attributing deaths to sodas in obituaries and we’ll find out later that they died in a car accident but they had just finished drinking a soda before they died.
That’s the “great” part of socialized medicine, once we all have to pay each other’s medical bills everybody’s bad habits become everybody’s problem.
You can choose to challenge a Statist, one world socialist utopia loving idealist at your own risk while being only a little bit conservative or libertarian. Good luck!
Let me kick your butt up and down the sidewalk for public amusement for the pitchfork and torches carrying fellow citizens.
If Gubmint is paying for your healthcare, it is their right, indeed their duty, to intervene and save taxpayer money on issues that could effect public health. It's in our COLLECTIVE interest.
Smoke is smelly. OK. It effects others.
Think about it my FRiend. Have a nice day. :-)
Well, I stumbled on a weird porn site once. I'm pretty sure that's what they were doing there.
No but we heard so much about how insurance was having to take care of smokers, so I guess now smokers can say insurance premiums are going to take care of the obese who have a lot of health problems.
Sure there is.
It is a behavioral deficiency that costs society in health care expenses (read tax dollars)
Where have you been?
“Well, there is no such thing as second hand soda, so Im not sure how far the analogy will go.”
It will go as far as the communists want to take it. The “secondhand” argument was nothing more than an enabling weapon to usurp private property rights. They are more than willing to utilize the same weapons to further infringe on individual liberty.
Many FReepers celebrated the use of these weapons and now their throats will be slit with them. They can’t say they weren’t warned.
