Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) is going a step beyond simply pledging to fight efforts to pass the health care bill -- she's openly pronouncing that people should personally declare it unconstitutional and defy it, depending on how it ends up getting passed.
At a rally at the Minnesota State Capitol on Saturday, Bachmann declared illegitimate the potential route that House Democrats could take to pass the health care bill. She was specifically railing against a parliamentary tactic by which the House could skip voting on the Senate bill by declaring it passed as part of the reconciliation bill. Bachmann pronounced this to be taxation without representation. "They have just started a revolution -- and they did it," said Bachmann.

I grew up there. Very liberal urban area. Artists, educators, ghettos and powerful unions. Just as bad as Boston or San Fran.
The suburbs and rural areas are very conservative. Families, churches, sportsmen, farmers, engineers. When you can find a democrat in these conservative areas, he's usually a JFK type. Bachmann comes from a district just north of the metro area.
Having grown up there, I can say that Minnesotans want to be recognized nationaly. While most Minnesotans aren't this stupid, it only takes a small handful of them to have an effect in a purple state. In the case of Franken, it only took a couple more votes to win.
How would that work? This thing is so convoluted, I wouldn’t even know how to disobey it! If I need surgery and try to find a doctor, what if all the doctors are in compliance? How do I defy the law and have my surgery done?
Soros and his orginizations are going to pour lots of money into the State to try to defeat her in Nov.
This woman is really good. She deserves all the support she can get.
We’d need to pick a Constitutional lawyer and have people send money to him. The problem is who would pick the attorney?
“Palin needs to get away from stinking RINO Juan McCain and start acting like Bachmann again.”
Amen, amen, amen.
I hope Gov. Palin lurks here, or maybe she has some friends who lurk here.
Please listen Governor Palin - start acting like Bachmann again.
Amen!
There's hope for rock-solid conservatism yet.
Go weep elsewhere. This is an activist site.
I don't think "they" elected him.
He doesn't have to wait. All the Supremes have to do is accept a Birth Certificate case and demand that Obama produce his real BC.
True, ACORN found all those ballots in the trunk of a car.
I think a liberal judge picked Franken.
What you're saying makes perfect sense, but you started your post with the second part of the problem - RINO-infested Republican party. Not saying we need a 3rd party, but sure hope we can get some good folks in.
“Something like this? Someone refuses to buy health insurance, is fined, and pays the fine. The person then sues for a refund of the fine on grounds that the law was not constitutionally enacted. Use as the precedent the Supreme Court ruling against the line item veto, as discussed here yesterday.”
Exactly...I can’t imagine the court not wanting this one...but they need to have someone with standing...and this is not lawful. You can not make the Commerce clause stretch like this.
I think non compliance is a good step. Have millions of people stop paying there taxes, show are hand and let the government show theres... I would be willing.. It only takes one person to start a revolution..
I say the Great one Mark Levin And Anne Coulter is a constitutional Lawyer I thought also..
Newbie.....this is an activist site. Maybe you misunderstood FR’s purpose.
