Pelosi said Monday that House Democrats have yet to decide how to approach the vote. But she added that any strategy involving a separate vote on the Senate bill "isn't too popular," and aides said House leaders are likely to bow to the wishes of their rank-and-file.

Instead, under the self-executing rule, the House would vote on a package of fixes to the Senate bill; under the House rule for that vote, passage would signify that lawmakers "deem" the Senate bill to be passed.

Conservatives said that would run afoul of the Constitution, pointing to a 1998 Supreme Court ruling that said each house of Congress must approve the same text of a bill before it can become law. A self-executing rule sidesteps that requirement, former federal appellate judge Michael McConnell argued in a Wall Street Journal op-ed.

If they try it, self-execution will automatically follow, it just make take until November for the effect to become evident.

Nancy Pelosi suggested Monday that she might instead attempt to pass the measure without having members vote on it.

I am no lawyer. But it seems to me that attaching another bill to fix the Senate Bill would functionally be the same as passing a bill with amendments. That would make the two bills passed to fail the identical bill test. The whole package would then have to be passed by the Senate before the President could sign it. I would think that House and Senate Republicans would file suit and ask for a Supreme Court ruling on the matter.

They don’t have the votes and this thing is going down in defeat. Obama and the Left thinks by saying this thing is a done thing this week will pressure lawmakers into getting this done.

There is more people against this bill than ever before. The Slaughter Rule is just a threat and the Dems know they might as well resign if they try this.

Continue the pressure because Obama will not let up but this bill is going down in defeat.

You will start hearing about Obama’s resignation after the November election. You will start hearing how tough this has been on his health and his family and will resign.

The Dems thought that Clinton was their worst nightmare but this guy will be responsible for the Dems losing it all.

God has a funny sense of humor and by the way He answers His people’s prayers.

We need to continue to pray and fight!

The House would instead vote on a more popular measure that presumes the health-care bill has passed the chamber.

If that stupid, vicious hag actually forces this through, America will finally be forced to learn about the legal and judicial mechanisms of Federal "presumption" - and it's about damn time.

Because when they do, the entire collectivist construction will be torn down and utterly destroyed, once and for all.

The Rats are about to learn what the phrase "pyrrhic victory" means - and that America is actually, really protected by God.

This is how most dictatorships form. First they circumvent the laws. Then they flagrantly violate them. By the time the people realize what is going on, they have total control. The only difference here is that the majority of the military despises the Marxist in chief and he will need them to complete the coup.

The have taken over the banks, the auto industry, the education system, trying to take over the food industry and power, ready to seize health care and student loans..... what else is there?

The only way this will stop, short of a civil war, is a military coup of the states start seceding and reclaiming their states rights.

and............ they are doing it out in the open, right under everyone’s nose. What are the people doing? Nothing much. Griping, having some tea parties, and the coup marches on.

under the self-executing rule

Isn't this what we, in computer terms, call a *virus* or *malware* or *trojan* or whatever we call this crap nowadays? Either way, it is unwanted, malicious, and a general PIA .. and we spend tons of hours every year either preventing or eradicating this crap from invading our personal computers.

Nancy Botox thinks what she is attempting is the Cats-Ass of legislation .. but what it really is is a bunch of useless trojan virus malware designed to separate your money into her pockets
