It was the detonation of 2 nuclear weapons that helped bring “hope and change” to Japan. I find the modern Japanese attitude much more balanced.

Amen. My Filipino friends have stories about the Japs that are just horrible.Same here... I know a few who were there during the WWII era and are still haunted by the unbelievable cruelty of many of the Japanese soldiers...

Hanks has gone off the deep end. More proof that Obamaphilia destroys brain cells.
The first time I went to S. Korea it was amazing to me how many of the older people still remembered the brutal occupation and rape of the Korean peninsula by the Japanese in the early 20th century. Aside from brutalizing the populace, the Japs utterly raped the land, essentially de-foresting the whole place. I wonder if Hanks would consider that "racism" by the other side? Or is there some excuse, like there is in this country whenever the issue of black racism comes up?

I really want to support and like The Pacific — the release of which is why Hanks is out on the promo circuit, letting his cakehole flap — because I’ve read how authentic it is, with advisors like Cpt. Dale Dye, USMC (Ret.).
But this is just too much.
As with other movies with leftist creators and/or leftist motivations (”Avatar” being another recent example), I will see this eventually, but I will do so in a manner that causes as little money as possible to flow to the creators.

“This is what can happen when people of very limited intelligence and education become famous from memorizing and repeating words written by others.”
You have it exactly.
I was debating conservatism with a liberal friend of mine, extremely intelligent type. He said Sarah Palin was a “talk show host” and laughed when I mentioned Glenn Beck. “He’s crazy!”
Later I used his bathroom, and found his reading matter in it. In the Newsweek prominently laid out, there was a big comment about Glenn Beck being “crazy” and Sarah a “talk show host wannabe.
I laughed MAO. He’s never seen them. He was quoting a magazine he read.

Hanks sold his soul to Speilberg a long time ago.

Geez, what a libtard. I really liked Band of Brothers, which Hanks co-produced, but a lot of the appeal was due to the series being based on the writings of Stephen Ambrose. Looks like I'll be skipping The Pacific.

What a surprise. I actually mean that I was surprised to read something this far from the truth coming from someone whom I had assumed was a rational thinking person. Boy was I wrong.
I lost one uncle I never knew at Pearl Harbor, one on Corregidor, and another during the march of Bataan.
The first two were killed in combat, the last was murdered with a sword because he tried to help a friend. I had several other uncles who fought in both the pacific and in Europe and I know from them that they were very different wars. The Japanese would not surrender, they fought to the death. They killed my uncle on the march of Bataan with a sword because they believed that he had no honor because he had surrendered and did not deserve a bullet.
Mr Hanks, my family is waiting for an explanation of your words. We did not start the war with Japan, we did not wish to have to dig every Japanese fighter out of a cave or hole in the ground and kill them but they left us no choice.
Not one person in my extended family wanted to live their lives without their brothers but that was forced on them as well.
Mr Hanks???? we are waiting for something, some words of truth and fact that can make your words look sane. Anything, anything at all??? Mr Hanks, you know as much about making war as I do about a making a movie. Your understanding of the history of the pacific war is nonexistent. You integrity has evaporated. Enjoy your money I hope it replaces personal honor. Rest assured that your statements will be published and posted where all the vest and their families can see them along with the very strong suggestion that they no longer support any of your movies with their hard earned dollars. Maybe you and Mr Penn Need to head on south. I hear that there is a big brown a$$ down there that likes being kissed by you hollywierd types.

I hate to admit it, but the 3D effects were worth the stupid message advanced by Avatar. (capitalists are psychopathic, genocidal, militant killers). I thought the story was like Dances with Wolves in space with a dash of LCD. Still worth it.

come on... he was funny as heck on that show. besides, look how lopsided he is....
it is impressive is that he turned the corner from comedian in drag on TV to movie star. he can’t be stupid to pull that off.
clearly he is ignorant. gotta wonder if they read scripts and think they are history. like, does he believe the Davinci Code is historically accurate?

Actors often become actors because they want to act like anyone but themselves.
Most actors don’t know their own name without a cue card.
Dpeending on actors for advice on anything from Alar and apples to American actions and foreign policy is idiocy.

Would somebody please explain to me what I am doing that is racist? I feel just terrible and would like to stop doing it.
