A decennial tradition that dates back 220 years to the days of George Washington continues today when federal census forms start arriving at more than 120 million households across the United States.
But hanging over this 23rd U.S. census are concerns about a decline in participation.
While the U.S. census has always evoked some resentment toward the feds for poking their nose into people's business, there's a sense that America's distrust of the government has reached greater heights and could contribute to poor census returns.

If you dont send back a completed form, you will find them at your door...and it doesnt look to me like they give up easily.
“If you dont send back a completed form, you will find them at your door...”
And for some here, that’s when the real fun begins!
It is the “expanded” form that they can randomly select you to fill in that should worry you. Other than Race: Other: American, I will fill in what I deem traditional questions. (I don’t have mine yet to see what they ask.)
that America’s distrust of the government has reached greater heights
And reaching even greater heights. It is NOT our government at the moment. It has evolved into something I have never seen before and hope, with God’s grace, will never see again! Lets get our government back.
Well, enjoy yourself then. I think people are making mountains out of molehills. There is nothing wrong with filling out the census with the information that has BEEN on ALL censuses since they began.
Neither do I. I'm frankly looking forward to the visit.
Expanded or not. I am sure they wont ask anything that they havent asked before.
Why aggravate yourself. This is no big deal.
Me too. I’m thinking about open carry if any show up at my door. Nothing threatening, just simply wearing one of my larger caliber handguns. Then they can ask their questions if the weeny libs haven’t wet themselves first. I still won’t answer anything more than number, ages, and citizenship (American).
That is all the information we plan on giving ..let them guess
So the count will include illegals which will in turn affect the allocation of Congress-critters ?
Somehow mine got run thru my paper shreader after being filled out.
I should probably mail it in anyway (snicker)
Hey! Don’t lump me in! I said for some here. I wasn’t including myself. I have already sent mine in, as I said earlier.
I know it’s important for the geneologists, etc. But the total incompetence we see every 10 years leaves us ready to scream and rebel. The over politicizing of it don’t help either.
Maybe a few hip tv ads would help...
oh, nevermind.
my understanding is that the Obama WH in taking over the census is using SAMPLING instead of ENUMERATION.
IOW they are going to guess.
(citizens, non, citizens etc...)
How many folks lived in my house this past year? Dazzit none of the other questions will I answer.
Note to the Census Department: Go urinate up a rope.
What’s to stop them from creating thousands of phony census returns? Look! We found 3,000 “uncounted” people in Paterson, N.J. Show me the money!!!
Not very familiar with how the census questionnaire has grown, are you. But since you seem to feel it's proper to respond to those questions 'since they began', I deem it proper to answer those in the 1800 & 1810 census...
1. City or township
2. Name of the head of family
3. Number of free white males under age 10
4. Number of free white males age 10-15
5. Number of free white males age 16-25
6. Number of free white males age 26-44
7. Number of free white males over age 44
8. Number of free white females under age 10
9. Number of free white females age 10-15
10. Number of free white females age 16-25
11. Number of free white females age 26-44
12. Number of free white females over age 44
13. Number of all other free persons
14. Number of slaves
Oh, I guess if I were a person of color, I'd pitch it. And legally so...
