YouTube Smackdown Returns - Thread #20 - WE'RE BACK!

Well, wacky smackers, it's been a while.  The Smackdown Crew went on strike for a while because YouTube was not upholding their end of the "community policing" policies they had in place so we went on "strike."  We were having increasing troubles getting terrorist videos removed from YouTube, even as we were noting several people that we had flagged becoming ever more bold and aggressive in breaking executive orders. 

As some of you know, the Smackdown Crew began working from a different angle.  There were several threads posted here at FreeRepublic and elsewhere that showed a direct link from YouTube's hosted videos to known terrorist websites.  Many of the people who post the terrorist sympathizing videos at YouTube are following the admonitions of the well-know cleric Al-Awlaki.  (For more on Al-Awlaki's encouraging of terrorist activites read here.)  Despite YouTube's recalcitrance, the recent "lone wolf" tactic of al Qaeda causes us to once again fully engage, with or without YouTube's help.

We want to thank you all for your encouragement and participation all these past months which resulted in thousands of videos removed, and ultimately in the apprehension of YouTube's JihadJane in the terror plot to murder a cartoonist.  As Internet Haganah said, "The work of removing individual videos from YouTube, while tedious, is of enormous value..."  We believe that YouTube might be taking it's job of removing terrorist material from their servers a little more seriously.  As such, we'd like to test the waters a bit and see if it's advisable to return to a daily "smacking" routine.  I am pinging everyone from the old "Smackdown" pinglist.  If you'd like to added or removed, please let me know - it is not my wish to annoy any of you. 

As of now, our smacking lists will be fairly short, and we will evaluate the effectiveness of the campaigns regularly.  If YouTube proves reticent to uphold their terms of service, we will desist once again.  It is not our wish to waste your precious time!

As a reminder, here are the steps to flagging:

#1) If you don’t have a YouTube account, go sign up for one. You don’t have to use it for anything but this.

#2) Click one of the videos in the playlist, let it start and then click the pause button on the player so you don’t have to actually watch the propaganda if you choose not to..

#3) Below the video, click “Flag"     

#4) Choose "Select a Reason"

#5) "Violent or Repulsive Content" works for most.

#6) If not violent, choose "Hateful or Abusive Content"

#7) Next, "promotes hatred or violence"

#8) Where it says “please indicate the group attacked” choose National Origin.

#9) Where it says “provide additional information” type or copy/paste in the below statement and then at the very bottom click "Flag This Video"

Providing services to terrorists violates executive orders 12947 and 13224.

Actually, Videos 2,4 and 5 are still up. The new YT layout farked the playlist function. It no longer shows which videos are down nor does it skip ahead to the next available video.

To answer your question from a few days ago -- by my
calculations, counting only those users suspended,
we have removed 5,474 videos from YouTube. This
doesn't take into account individual videos we've
gotten removed.

B-crew still working at this today - let me know if
anything doesn't work right! Also, in case you missed
the post, since we came back on May 15th, a month and
half ago, 5,474+ terrorist propaganda videos have been
removed from YouTube! Like I said before, you guys are
smokin' hot!
