Tea Party vs. Coffee Party
The Web | Today | Anonoymous

Posted on 03/14/2010 11:15:05 AM PDT by jessduntno

From the web (anonymous):

“Tea Party”:

* Individuals have Inalienable Rights that NO GOVERNMENT may infringe upon without their consent. A Right is a restriction on Government Power

* That the Constitution is only Valid when taken as an expression of that Consent, and therefore its ORIGINAL MEANING as understood by the people is paramount in determining the laws under which we live. It was a contract between the people to form a government, with limited powers, with all other powers being reserved to the people or to the States. A process for Amendment was provided for changes to the contract, and amendment is the only VALID means of changing its meaning, because it is the only method which preserves the explicit consent of the people.

* the role of Government is to prevent individuals from doing demonstrable harm to each other through the violation of an individual’s inalienable rights, and administering institutions set up for the general welfare and with the people’s express consent. Fundamentally the Government’s goal is to protect the inalienable rights of its citizens from attack from either within or without.

* It is the individual’s responsibility to pursue and ensure his own happiness in accord with his abilities, and his right to decide between right and wrong and when, if and how to contribute to the welfare of his fellow man.

The Coffee Party launches today....I am sure they will enjoy the same success as did Air America...

I thought some differnces could be highlighted by those who might be tempted to join the new "Coffe Party Movement"...pretty enticing stuff, I think...hmmmmmppppphhhhh....

“Coffee Party”:

* The Government has the right to suspend or modify the Rights of individuals without resort to Amendment, and can do so purely through the legislative process. In effect this means that personal liberty is what you have left over after a simple majority have made their demands upon you. A Right is a benefit given to all or some using the confiscated labors of others.

* The Constitution is open to modification and interpretation without a need to obtain the express consent of the people.

* The Primary role of government isn’t merely to protect, but to ensure its citizens “do the right thing” as determined by a simple majority, and to correct imbalances perceived by the simple majority to be unfair. In short, to take care of its citizens as a farmer maintains the animals on his farm - ensuring each receives food, health care, sand shelter, making use of animals most suited for work to do that work, and using the proceeds to care for all.

* Responsibility for the care of any individual who either cannot or will not provide for themselves falls to the community, who will then use the force of government to indenture certain individuals to entitle the fruits of their labor to those who cannot or will not care for themselves.

The teacher quoted in the Palm Beach Post's article on another thread about the Coffee Party gathering there is typical of those John Adams warned about in the following quotation, a likely "pensioner" who has become dependent on government and sees it as the solution for everything.

"Found in: John Adams, The Works of John Adams, vol. 4 (Novanglus, Thoughts on Government, Defence of the Constitution) - NO. III. - paragraph 144

"Obsta principiis (translation: resist the beginnings), nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers, and destroyers press upon them so fast, that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon the American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour. The revenue creates pensioners, and the pensioners urge for more revenue. The people grow less steady, spirited, and virtuous, the seekers more numerous and more corrupt, and every day increases the circles of their dependents and expectants, until virtue, integrity, public spirit, simplicity, and frugality, become the objects of ridicule and scorn, and vanity, luxury, foppery, selfishness, meanness, and downright venality swallow up the whole society."

John Adams words castigate the "arbitrary power" holders in Washington today who have gained their offices by promises to "redistribute" the earnings of hard-working citizens, thereby encouraging dependency among the citizenry, and a certain path to tyranny by those who hold the reins of power in government.

I don’t get it. This is the coffee party website, correct?
Posted on their website is this editorial that shows why nobody in their right mind would ever agree with the principals of the coffee party. Am I missing something here? Or is this group espousing communism overtly?

They are billing the "coffee" party as the "anti" tea party...that's a real hoot and shows their ignorance of what the tea party actually is.

Liberal/progressives are trained as a "herd"...they think in terms of groups and not as individuals. They can only function as groups and their core beliefs become whatever the core beliefs of thier current group membership dictates.

On the other hand, the TEA party movement is not an organized group, but are American individuals who are joining hands to battle an out of control government. The Tea party movement is for freedom, the rule of law, and the Constitution. If the "coffee" movement is the "anti" tea party, then they must be for tyranny, no law, and against the Constitution of the United States.

All in all, they will just be the useful idiots for the progressives, and will - as another poster said - go the way of Air America. These people cannot see that no one outside their little circle jerk cares anything about their anti-American propaganda.

If the "coffee party" does anything, it will be to strengthen the TEA party movement. You see, the "coffee party" will turn out to be just that...another liberal, plastic banana, good time, rock & roll, party; but he Tea party movement is about the Constitition, and our childrens' futures.

While the "coffee party" quibbles about which color crepe paper streamers to decorate their meeting hall with...the Tea party movement will be marching on D.C. to stop the encroaching shadow of communism from American soil.

We outnumber them all...we have them surrounded...and they are scared to death; the Tea party movement participants are not just "joiners", they are heretofore uninvolved citizens seeing the coming of the 2nd American revolution and engaging in the fight against tyranny.

I'm guessing most of the "coffeeheads" are probably not even married and could care less about future generations or children. It's a game to them, it's all about their perception of the "cuteness" of the name in juxtaposition to the "tea" party.

They'll probably get pulled under the wing of the SEIU - and for all we know it's an offshoot OF the SEIU/Acorn bunch to stir up trouble at the Tea Party movement rallies.

Conservative DEFCON up to number "2"...don't let your guard down for a minute with these people...they like to "sucker punch".

Conservative talk radio sprang up and grew tremendously because it was authentic and answered a need. The lefties tried to mimic and imitate that success and have been falling flat of their faces for ten or fifteen years.

Now they see another authentic and original movement and they are once again gearing up to mimic and imitate something real with something conjured up and phony. The result will be the same as for lefty talk radio.

"Individuals have Inalienable Rights that NO GOVERNMENT may infringe upon without their consent."

There is so much wrong with this sentence, I don't know where to begin. Individuals do have inalienable rights, that is true. The government MAY NOT infringe upon them, even with their "alleged" consent. The consent of one generation DOES NOT constitute the consent of subsequent generations; that is why they are RIGHTS. The government can only actively COERCE or forcibly SUPPRESS rights. Anything else is symmantics.

"A Right is a restriction on Government Power."

WRONG. A RIGHT is a personal, individual freedom, a LIBERTY, in thought, word, or action. Freedom to speak, freedom to worship, freedom to protect one's life, freedom to associate with others. In fact, the ONLY time a right relies on other individuals is when the Government seeks to forcibly suppress a person's rights, and even then said person is entitled to DUE PROCESS.

Understanding both of these essential principles is KEY to recognizing just how far away from liberty we have drifted, and how corrupt our government has become.

The government was instituted so that it could resolve disputes where the rights of one person were infringing on the rights of another. Everything else is a HUGE overreach. PERIOD.

If this is a "mission statement" of the Tea Party, then it's a GOOD THING the Tea Party isn't a formalized group with "recognized" leaders. Their premise is flawed.

Actually their title says it all:

Geography is our Only Common Ground

They really don't see us as their fellow citizens but rather an enemy. Whereas we see them as fellow Americans and want to keep the United States going so we may all share in the glory of our freedom and the prosperity of our "united citizenship".

These people are so devoid of understanding of the founding of the U.S. and what the Constitution guarantees for all of us. They are nothing more than selfish, self-centered creatures who think that everything one person has should be shared with them.

ANother communist front group, by the looks of them.

All in all, they will just be the useful idiots for the progressives, and will - as another poster said - go the way of Air America. These people cannot see that no one outside their little circle jerk cares anything about their anti-American propaganda.

The problem is that these people seldom envision the imposition of mobthink on themselves, because they think the Government will never descend upon them.

Those who rabidly campaigned to treat smokers worse than blacks under jim crow (separate sections, can't ride the bus, kick them out (non-smokers only)) have not envisioned the war on obesity, trans-fats, salt, red meat, etc. to follow. Sooner or later they will be part of a population subset subject to the authority they usurped "for the Chilllrreennnn!" and they won't like it.

The trend toward increasing petty tyranny has cowed the American spirit, people let a tyrannical association tell them what color they can paint their house, and pay dues for the priveledge. They overwhelmingly supported legislation which created a branch of government which requires shoes be removed and pockets emptied before getting on an airplane. Really, America. Feel safer now???

Now that I've actually read the whole post I agree with the guy. (Was it you?)

We should be allowed to vote with our feet. Let the states that want Obamacare have it and let those of us that don't want to move to the states that opt out.

Of course, that will effectively divide the U.S. out of existence.

FREEPERS should make a pack to post NOTHING on the ‘coffee party’ - NOTHING

Every time we do - we give them publicity and more strength.

They can't even come up with a viable name. Tea Party is easily defined with historical connections and purposes.

Coffee Party has NONE - only to attach to Tea Party like a leech. Let's not give them ONE WORD IN PRINT. The best defeat strategy is to ignore them.

They are paid - note the printed by press signs they carry. these paid for demonstrators don't last long because they have no soul, no real cause - except to grab a few bucks.

Without dedication, they will fall by the wayside.
