...Today the city's Asian population perhaps more than any other symbolizes what Robinson calls a stunning evolution of diversity in Austin. The city counts among its fold growing numbers of Indians, Pakistanis, Koreans, Vietnamese, Bangladeshis, Chinese and others spanning the Asian continent.
Robinson projects that the 2010 census will show the Asian population grew by 62 percent since the last head count of Austin residents 10 years ago faster than any other group and triple the rate of Austin's growth overall.
Immigrants also figure heavily in the explosion of the city's Latino population, the largest ethnic group in Austin and responsible for an overwhelming share of city growth this decade. Together, Asians and Latin Americans accounted for almost 90 percent of Austin's roughly 109,000 foreign-born population in 2000. For perspective, in 1980, the entire foreign-born population in Austin was only 16,700.
Census forms will begin arriving Monday in mailboxes across the country. The census carries with it high-stakes implications for the return of billions of federal dollars to local communities and apportionment of congressional seats and political power.....
The Census Bureau is taking unprecedented steps to reach out to speakers of languages other than English. For the first time in its history, the census will mail 13 million bilingual, English-Spanish forms to neighborhoods with traditionally high numbers of Spanish-speaking residents. The 2010 questionnaire will also be available by request in four other languages Russian, Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese.
In addition, a user guide explaining how to answer the census questionnaire is on the census Web site in 59 languages, and the bureau is using 28 languages for its advertising campaign. (It used 17 languages in 2000.) ...

Immigrants?
“Immigrants?”
I assume some are. I also assume some are spies and agents provocateur. It is only lightly reported — if at all — the number of Asians who have been busted for espionage.
No fear here. I hope illegals are never counted for anything.
Of course they are immigrants—they have all come by way of Ellis Island, don’t ya know? They have all been duly processed, and are at this very minute working on getting their papers in order so that they can apply for citizenship.
I’ll miss them when they’re gone!!
The census libtards sent me a letter saying they are going to send me a letter with the census form.
Why didn’t the idiots just put the census form in the first letter?
How much money did they waste sending two letters to everyone in the country?
I agree that was a waste of millions of dollars/manpower.
Perhaps ICE could hand deliver the forms. Not that ICE would ever arrest any illegals.
I’m just going to say I’m a native American. I was born here so...
Then, if the form is not mailed back in roughly four weeks, you will receive yet another “replacement form” -
....ONLY this time instead of being addressed to “Resident” it will come addressed to you personally — thus acknowledging they already have the information they require in the first place...
To be followed by phone calls if you ignore their demand letters (again acknowledging by their actions that they already have your phone number - i.e. something you are supposed to have provided on the original form)
Immigrants “missed” in Texas?? You mean the 6 LEGAL or the 9 million ILLEGAL immigrants??
The whole census form beyond the head count is a waste of time and money. I'm certainly not going to fill out anything past the head count question. The rest is a waste of paper, ink and postage. I already have a copy of the Constitution printed out and sitting next to the door ready to greet the ACORN, er, uh, I mean Census worker when they come to knock on my door after I return the form incomplete.....
Uhhh....where are they going? And who’s going to send them home? Without a fight (from them or the democrats or RINOS or the businesses that look the other way and want cheap labor and could care less about employing Americans?)I want them all to leave, All of them but it’s not going to be east.
This could not heve been posted by anyone better than deport. That is what we need to do to all illegals.
Deport them.
Deport them.
Deport them.
Deport them.
Deport them.
Deport them.
Deport them.
Deport them.
Deport them.
Absolutely we must deport them.
Does the emphasis on counting “everyone” include tourists here legally on visas? I mean, they have more right to be here than someone who has snuck in illegally?
I seriously doubt it. The Census should count US citizens only.

Declaration To Make To Census Takers
I hereby affirm that the provisions of Title 13 ``requiring me to disclose my race, personal financial data, birthdate, or any other personal, private information to the Bureau of the Census, an agency of the United States government; constitutes an unreasonable, unwarranted search of my person, house, papers, and/or effects; and a governmental invasion of the sanctity of my home and the privacies of life. As such, these provisions violate the Fourth Amendment of the US Constitution, and are thus wholly void and I am not bound to obey them.
I have completed the only those sections of the Census form pertaining to the Constitutionally-mandated actual enumeration, as follows:
1. The actual number of people living at the address printed on the form, excluding untaxed Native Americans;
2. Age of each person in accordance with US Const. Amendment XIV, Section 2.
3. Sex of each person, in accordance with US Const. Amendment XIV, Section 2.
I have thus fulfilled my obligation to the attainment of the actual enumeration of the populace of the United States.
Any fine or other sanction that is levied by any office or organization stemming from the unconstitutional provisions of Title 13 in connection with my response to this or any other Census-related questioning will be challenged in a court of law.
