Israel's Netanyahu Under Fire For Row With US
AFP ^ | March 14, 2010

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday sought to project calm amid a deepening crisis with the United States, seen as the worst rift between the close allies in decades.

"We opened the papers this morning and saw the analyses and reviews. I suggest we not get carried away, and calm down," Netanyahu said ahead of a weekly cabinet meeting.

"We know how to deal with situations like these, calmly, responsibly and seriously," he said.

Pure speculation on my part, but it wouldn’t surprise me to find out at some point Netanyahu is being portrayed as “unreasonable” and “uninterested in peace” because the Israelis are prepared to deal with Iran on their own......and soon.

This is going to go very bad. It sends an unmistakeable message to muslims: “Pile on.”
(Expect an upsurge of violence against Israel; 0bama just gave the signal.)

Well i would not bet my money on this one.
I don´t think Israel would “dare” to attack Iran
without US help (Or at least US government approval).

I disagree.
They have very little to lose, and very much to gain.

Expect an upsurge of violence against Israel;

Israel has more firepower than any if its a-rab enemies. If the a-rabs are foolish enough to take this strategy, then they are foolish enough to bear the consequences.

Oh they have very much to lose.
Just think about it. In worst case they would lose
their only ally left. (if the US government would deside to
stop supporting Israel because lets assume they are
pi$$ed because of Israel starting a war against their will
they would be in BIG trouble).
Believe me you don´t want to be stuck in a war with a big country like
Iran and then run out of weapons.
Not if you are a tiny country like Israel.

If Israel gives into this insane plan by the US and Palestine, it would strategically cut the country in half. The result will render both areas as hopeless to defend. The newly formed Palestine area will serve as a staging area for the Islamic World to attack the remaining and vulnerable Israeli territories.

I was referring to terrorist violence within Israel.

I would rephrase this to say that they have very much to lose if they don't.

Even from old Biblical times God told his followers they would never get a fair shake because of their belief in Him. The mentality you describe is par for the course, and has about 6000 years of Biblical precedent.

I am sure that most Israelis understand this, and for their sake, I hope they adopt a "F**K what the world thinks about us; they will hate us anyway... we will defend our people at all costs" mentality.

I read somewhere that more Israelis were killed in domestic attacks within Israel from 1993 to the present (1993 being when the Oslo Accords came into force) than from 1948 to 1993.

The "peace process" is suicide for Israel. God willing, the Israeli leadership will own up to this truth and abandon this BS entirely.

“Oh they have very much to lose.”

Iran is run by a whack-job who wants to create an Islamo-armageddon. Inaction destines Irsael to be nuked. So, their back is to the wall. There’s no point in compromising with Islam any more.

this gives Obama admin cover for lack of progress on PA talks. of course Israel has every right to build in an area that will not be part of any future negotiation and Biden/Clinton are misrepresenting our ally’s actions. Obama hates Israel. did any of us need further proof?

This s a choice between different forms of poison. The US would push Israel into an indefensible situation and Israel would be overwhelmed and destroyed bit by bit by agreeing to the US positions. The US has become the tacit ally of the Islamists. With Obama the strategy is becoming more open and apparent. Obama will push to weaken Israel as much as possible and will only make a show of disapproval when the terrorists attack IMO.

This is the most anti-social administration in our history.

You can look at France, Germany, and Japan. Obama repeatedly insults England too. It infuriates me that Biden, mister goofball trouble-maker, is getting such a fine leader of Israel in trouble.

MaObama is bluffing. BiBi knows this quite well. By siding with the PLO, the USA has taken the cowards way out. They still think that dividing Israel up into sections, will create “Peace”. This is a complete myth. The opposite will occur.

Israel is much stronger than you think. They can take Iran out in a matter of weeks. With the USA no longer on their side, they will not hesitate to take out their biggest threat. Iran is within months of having a Nuke capable of hitting Israel.

“Believe me you don´t want to be stuck in a war with a big country like Iran and then run out of weapons. Not if you are a tiny country like Israel.”

This would push them to use their nukes far sooner than one would expect. 100% home grown! and the weapons with parts from the US are saved for emergencies like Syria/Lebanaon/Hezbolah.

But i’m betting that Israel will be capable of making her own parts in short order.
