State [WY] plan fines feds $2,000 over gun rules: 2 years in jail also possible for agent...

2 years in jail also possible for agent enforcing U.S. regulations on firearm

Wyoming has joined a growing list of states with self-declared exemptions from federal gun regulation of weapons made, bought and used inside state borders – but lawmakers in the Cowboy State have taken the issue one step further, adopting significant penalties for federal agents attempting to enforce Washington's rules.

According to a law signed into effect yesterday by Democratic Gov. Dave Freudenthal, any agent of the U.S. who "enforces or attempts to enforce" federal gun rules on a "personal firearm" in Wyoming faces a felony conviction and a penalty of up to two years in prison and up to $2,000 in fines.

WND reported just days ago when Utah became the third state, joining Montana and Tennessee, to adopt an exemption from federal regulations for weapons built, sold and kept within state borders.

A lawsuit is pending over the Montana law, which was the first to go into effect.

But Wyoming's law goes further, stating, "Any official, agent or employee of the United States government who enforces or attempts to enforce any act, order, law, statute, rule or regulation of the United States government upon a personal firearm, a firearm accessory or ammunition that is manufactured commercially or privately in Wyoming and that remains exclusively within the borders of Wyoming shall be guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, shall be subject to imprisonment for not more than two (2) years, a fine of not more than two thousand dollars ($2,000.00), or both."

This is the Constitutionally sound strategy for the pro-life movement.

Surely the right of the people of a state to protect the lives of innocent babies is as important as the right of the people to bear arms.

If it isn’t specifically in the constitution then it is States rights and the feds can go to hell or jail.

Absolutely awesome that Wyoming now has a law to arrest Feds when they try to violate a State law.

This is much better than those phony Tenth Amendment resolutions some states were passing last year. Does anyone think a Liberal America-Hating Globalist like Texas Gov. Rick Perry is going to follow the Tenth Amend. of the US Constitution??

You can bet the Feds will try and stop this in court.

Wyoming and Montana are great states to visit....now great states to live in.

Outstanding!

As I recall, New Hampshire’s proposed law (on this question) would consider it a misdemeanor. This one from Wyoming makes it a felony.

The only way to get the ATFs attention is to arrest and lock up their agents. Otherwise they will just ignore the state law and prosecute the dealers and buyers.

Twenty years ago, Herb Titus wrote an article advocating Nullification of Roe. v. Wade by the states.

It’s on the interwebs today, but it can be said to have sunk, at the time, without a ripple.

What’s really pathetic is that “the bishops” issued a statement in early 1973 declaring that all public officials should continue to carry out their duties as though Roe and Doe had never been issued by the Supreme Court.

This was really a direct application of the traditional moral principle that an immoral comment must be disobeyed. Since Roe and Doe were commands to the states to practice discrimination against the unborn, that command must be disobeyed.

In other words: Catholic teaching DEMANDS Nullification.

The bishops promptly forgot what the Church teaches, and proceeded in two directions at once: 1) seeking a (hopeless) Human Life Amendment; 2) coddling and sucking up to pro-abortion politicians.

Nullification IS the proper Constitutional response to unConstitutional acts by the federal government. One might say that Nullification is the final peaceful defense the people have against an oppressive federal government. Without Nullification, the people are left with only ONE defense against oppression: resistance by force.

Now that the federal government is threatening people’s economic well-being, Nullification is making a comeback. It’s too bad that the murder of 55 million babies wasn’t a serious enough reason for this to happen. But it’s a good thing that it is happening.

We should ask some congressmen to propose a bill, to elminate the ATF. I read every word of the Constitution, and I didn’t see the word “alcohol” or “tobacco.”

I can live with that.
