'Rock star' Mitt Romney gets big ovation in Utah (HUGE BARF ALERT)
The Deseret News, Salt Lake City, Utah ^ | 2010-03-13 | Lisa Riley Roche

SALT LAKE CITY — Mitt Romney brought his book tour Saturday back to the city where he led the 2002 Winter Olympics, telling an enthusiastic audience he could decide by Christmas whether to run again for president.

"That's not a decision we've made at this point," Romney told a 12-year-old boy from Bluffdale who said he was "asking a question that a lot of people are wondering and that's, 'Are you going to run for president?' "

The cheers the question received were among the loudest during Romney's hour-long appearance at the Salt Palace as part of his national tour for his latest book, "No Apology: The Case for American Greatness."

Romney said that, like the last time he made a bid for the GOP nomination for president, he and his family will gather to discuss the pros and cons of another campaign, possibly at Christmas or over New Year's.

He said his 2008 run for the White House was fun, especially because of the people who "give their heart and soul for you even when they know you're going to lose."

"There will be somebody who runs in the Republican Party," Romney told an estimated 4,000 people gathered in the Grand Ballroom. "I can tell you I'll either be that person, or I'll be working my tail off for that person, and I want you to, as well, because we've got to take back America."

Here is another one for ya.

I am wondering if RommeyCare has “comparative medicine boards” also known as Death Panels.

If RomneyCare does have Death Panels the would make Mitten the father of the Death Panel.

See, I already answered you in #40.

So, I either used tachyons, or went back through time,
or you have declared yourself a RomneyBOT.

America needs to dispense with “rock stars” as candidates. We are in deep doo doo.

Maybe we should try to find a magician instead.

Dems would love GOP to push Romney. Even if the Marxists lose they win with Romney. Classic RINO rope a dope.

I have several conservative friends with whom I occasionally discuss politics.

Most of them understand that Romney is not nearly as conservative than they are, but at the same time they see him as a worthwhile alternative to Obama.

What conclusions do I draw from this?

1 - Despite what many Freepers would like to believe, the "dinosaur media" are not even -close- to dying out. In fact, they are as strong as ever. Even if you get all your news from Fox, the true picture of Romney's background is not getting to you.

2 - If you get most of your political discussion here at FR, you are discussing issues in somewhat of a hermetically sealed environment. Because supporters of RINO candidates are banned here if they get too vocal, or keep their preferences to themselves, Freepers may underestimate the support those RINOs would get from the Republican electorate out there in the big blue room.

You have two threads mix up. This is what I am refering to. From this thread.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2470614/posts

Clyde5445 : (RomneyBOT)
“I would have add (sic) Deval Patrick to that list as well.
There would be no logical reason to do that.
Romney instituted all of them (and the installation of Patrick)
before Cadillac-DP was sworn in,
in front of soon-to-be-replaced curtains.
_______
And Why would you ping the people you did. I have an idea I will just give you the Whole Palin Ping List so you can ping them as well since you have accused me of something I’m not.

Of course he got a rock star welcome in Utah. DUH! Too bad it didn’t happen anywhere else. His book signing in Grand Rapids was epic fail compared to Sarah’s.

Of course in his backyard he will get this. We will be getting more of these types of articles in the coming days and months. The Left and MSM know that if we nominate Romney it is 4 more years for Obama.

Just for the record I am not a RomneyBOT. Never have been and never will be.

You know you may have just cause me a lot of undue grief by your accusation. Both Solidwood and Al B are long time Sarah supporters and now I may have the convince them I am one too. Thanks alot.

If you get most of your political discussion here at FR, you are discussing issues in somewhat of a hermetically sealed environment. Because supporters of RINO candidates are banned here if they get too vocal, or keep their preferences to themselves, Freepers may underestimate the support those RINOs would get from the Republican electorate out there in the big blue room.

Here are the facts of life in 21st Century America. (If you have a Time Machine in your house and live most of your life in the 1940's, the 1950's or the 1980's, your mileage will definitely vary.)

In 21st Century America, only 27% of all voters are now Republicans.

Independents, who are slightly to the Left of Center or slightly to the Right of Center, far outnumber Republicans at 36% of all voters.

Of the Republicans, 60% consider themselves "Conservatives".

So, let's do the arithmetic:

What percentage of all American voters will pass the Politically Pure Test on Free Republic and not be called "RINO's", or worse?

Answer: 60 percent of 27 percent = 16.2 percent.

What percentage of American voters will be vilified as "RINO's", or worse, on Free Republic?

Answer: 100 percent - 16.2 percent = 83.8 percent

Whether we like it our not, the other 83.8 percent of American voters are allowed to vote for President also and they do vote.

Whether rabscuttle385 likes it our not, the other 83.8 percent of American voters will not pass the Political Purity Tests that he insists upon.

What do you call an election where our candidate passes rabscuttle385's Perfect Political Purity Test but fails the Acceptability Test of the other 83.8% of all American voters?

Answer: An electoral defeat of Biblical proportions.

Before and during the primaries, anything goes. Support whatever candidate floats your boat.

However, after the primaries are settled, the choice is crystal clear:

A.) To the Right of Barrack Hussein Obama

or

B.) Help put Barrack Hussein Obama into the White House.

Rabscuttle385 chose Option B in 2008 because he couldn't always get what he wants. Chosing Option B doesn't seem to bother him too much as I can't ever recall a single post of his that ever attacked Barack Obama. Rabscuttle385 seems to hate candidates that are twelve feet to the Left of him much more than he hates candidates that are one hundred miles to the Left of him.

Come November of 2012, I will vote Option A, no matter who the candidate is.

If helping Barack Obama become a one-term President makes me a "RINO", then so be it.

You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes
Well, you just might find
You get what you need

Of the Republicans, 60% consider themselves "Conservatives".

Try looking at the numbers without your own agenda. 40 percent of voters view themselves as conservative. Many are no longer Republicans because the GOP has drifted so far away from its core principles.

So if the GOP returns to its base, it only need to pull in 11 percent of the rest of the base - and many of those will gravitate towards the party over Dem fiscal excesses, abortion and gun rights.

If the GOP puts this turkey up in 2012, then it proves that they dont care about what the base of the party wants

The primaries have been canceled and the RNC will choose the nominee? I wasn't aware of this, thanks, I needn't bother showing up at my voting site.

"View THEMSELVES as conservative"

You have just made my point.

Try looking at the Political Purity Tests that some people on Free Republic insist upon.

What somebody in the general population might consider "Conservative", some of the self-appointed Holier Than Thou Political Purity Testers on FR consider flaming RINO's or worse.

To the general population of voters, "Conservative" seems to mean "Ten percentage points to the Right of Center".

To some of the self-appointed Political Purity Police of FR, "Conservative" means, "Not One SINGLE Inch to the Left of me ..... ME ..... ME!!!!".
