Results from the GOP state preprimary convention By Heath Haussamen • 3/13/10, 12:49 pm

For the quickest updates, join The New Mexico Independent’s liveblog by clicking here.

Update, 2:10 p.m.

Governor

• Susana Martinez – 46.65 percent

• Allen Weh – 26.32 percent

• Janice Arnold-Jones – 13.16 percent

• Doug Turner – 9.23 percent

• Pete Domenici Jr. – 4.61 percent

Earlier post:

There’s already been some voting at the state Republican Party’s preprimary convention today. Check out the results now, and keep checking back. I’ll keep this blog updated as new results come in.

2nd Congressional District

• Steve Pearce – 92 percent

• Cliff Pirtle – 8 percent

A candidate has to get 20 percent to appear on the ballot, or collect a number of extra signatures before Tuesday if they fail in that task, so Pirtle will have to collect more signatures if he wants to stay in the race.

3rd Congressional District

• Tom Mullins – 80.5 percent

• Adam Kokesh – 19.5 percent

It’s not clear at this point if Kokesh has earned his way on the ballot. There’s some sort of recount going on and there’s also a question about whether numbers should be rounded up. Stay tuned.

1st Congressional District

• Jon Barela – Unopposed and selected by a voice vote

The fight in New Mexico is NOT over folks, Kokesh made claims that DEMOCRATS are changing their affiliations to vote for KOKESH in the primary!!!

More voting to come, lookout New Mexico!

———— Original Message ————

below, i put the link to the last candidate forum between mullins and kokesh.

during the Q and A (somewhere about 20 mins into the first video, after each candidate gives his introductory remarks), someone asked how each candidate was planning on winning. kokesh noted that there was a large democrat crossover registration for the primaries, thus he felt that he would win the primary and ultimately the election with the help of the democrat vote.

my question is this; since the dem candidate is unopposed, there is really no reason why many dems couldn’t just switch their registration, vote in the repub primary and get kokesh nominated. is the NM repub party concerned about this possibility, and if so, what are they doing to address it?

Who is Susanna Martinez? Is she a law and order Republican? Or a pro-amnesty Republican - laws only apply to everyone except Latinos!

".....numbers should be rounded up....." etc.

I don't know what this statement means, either. Is this something (whatever it is) particular to New Mexico primaries?

"A candidate has to get 20 percent to appear on the ballot..."

Hmmm! Let's see...My Redskins tickets cost me (actually my kids since I'm now ancient) about $7,650. However, all I've got is $7,600.

Guess I'll call Daniel S. and ask him if I can get in anyway...

Yeah sure!

If the Guppies allow "19.5" to equal "20" via new-age political relativism ("roundup")...They will have demonstrated why there is little hope for eventual restoration of the Republic via the ballot box.

Think it would be productive now to start pushing Kokesh to run third party? Seems he would bleed Greens and Democrats much more than he would hurt the GOP candidate.

I have no doubt the paulbots are busy as little ACORNs scrounging votes.
I wish you could have been in the 9/12 forum yesterday for the "debate" over Kokesh.
The paulistas are sounding more like moonbats every day.
My belief that we need to kill terrorists has somehow been construed as support for genocide. Go figure.
The 9/12 Project needs some fumigating. There is a serious infestation of trolls.
