Sarah Palin lashed out at Washington, the media and condescending liberals Friday night at an Orlando Republican fund-raising event, and predicted the GOP would restore "common sense" to government in the upcoming November elections.
Palin said those notes she wrote on her hand at a National Tea Party event — where the media and White House later "busted me for using a poor-man's teleprompter" — explained just what the country needed: a strong energy policy, tax cuts; and "lifting America's spirits."
"Americans get it," Palin said. "In Washington, they don't get it."
The wildly popular, but equally polarizing former vice presidential candidate packed the Orange County Republican Party's annual Lincoln Day fundraiser, attracting 1,300 fans to the Shingle Creek Resort. Orange GOP Chairman Lew Oliver said he expected the event to net the party more than $110,000.
Orlando was the latest stop in Palin's high-mileage speaking tour. She spoke in Daytona Beach last month, headlined an Ohio Right to Life Society fundraiser last Friday, and landed in Calgary, Canada, the next day. Later this month, Palin will help raise re-election funds for U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., the man who plucked her from relative obscurity to be his running mate in the 2008 presidential race.
On Friday, Palin advocated drilling for oil and natural gas to gain energy independence but said nothing specifically about such exploration off Florida's coast, a source of heated political dispute.
While advocating for standard GOP issues — lower taxes, less spending, more freedom and smaller government — Palin also singled out one Central Florida Democratic politician: U.S Rep. Alan Grayson of Orlando. Palin said voters need to remove the fiery millionaire lawyer in November.
"Do it for the rest of America," she said in a speech lasting about 40 minutes.(continued)

I do not understand why the MSM reports on her so badly. If they think she is that bad why not just avoid it....as they do so many other things?

The MSM does NOT want a strong conservative candidate to win the GOP nomination. If the MSM reports on a candidate badly (think Ronald Reagan), that should be a candidate that conservatives back!
And conversely, if the MSM treats a GOP candidate well (think McCain, Huckleberry, Romney), conservatives should run away from them!
Because Americans hate Obama. Nothing polorizing when everyone is on the same page -- expect the freebie-nuts.

The other question is, why use the phrase ‘lashes out.’ Sounds so reactionary and defensive. From what I’ve seen of her speeches, I’d venture to say something like, oh, “pounds,” or “pummels”, for example, might be a better turn of phrase.
And, it’s alliterative! “Palin Pounds Pusillanimous Politicians”
You are correct....but I was young enough at Regan’s times that I truly thought we would never elect another Carter...(i.e. Clinton)

I may have changed a few names here and there. It's not actually Gov. Palin this Time Magazine article's talking about here, but Ronald Reagan. Yes, the Gipper was really running 25 points behind Carter as late as March 1980 - a mere eight months before the election. Simple statements, no experience in DC politics or foreign affairs, supported only by the rightwing fringe - completely unelectable, that Reagan fellow, wasn't he?

Polarizing is a good quality. There are two parties. They should have two different ideologies. This SHOULD be polarizing. Two moderate party platforms are akin to one party.
The Republicans should start to use “polarizing” and “partisan” as positive terms. Republicans on the right, democrats on the left, and let the voters decide.
Very well said. We do not agree. Why try to hide the fact. The news media is what tries to promote this false idea of bi partisan ship and grid lock and all that stuff.
Disagreements are healthy. Gridlock is healthy. EVERY bill that Congress passes compromises a freedom. It should NOT be easy to pass a bill. We need to shout that loud and clear.
