Eva Marie Cassidy (February 2, 1963 – November 2, 1996) was an American vocalist known for her interpretations of jazz, blues, folk, gospel, country and pop classics. In 1992 she released her first album, The Other Side, a set of duets with go-go musician Chuck Brown, followed by a live solo album, Live at Blues Alley in 1996. Although she had been honored by the Washington Area Music Association, she was virtually unknown outside her native Washington, DC when she died of melanoma in 1996.

That was a nice classical post. Saint-Saens was a gifted composer, both in he long and short form.

The main theme from the finale of his Third Symphony was used in "Babe" and its sequel as the chorus of animals.

"Aquarium", from "Carnival of the Animals", has been used in a number of movies, particularly Terence Malick's visually striking "Days of Heaven".

For the biblically minded, from his opera "Samson and Delilah" comes one of the greatest love duets in the repertory, "Mon coeur s'ouvre a ta voix", which can melt steel at a hundred paces.

Also from that opera is the famous "Bacchanal", which has seeped into American popular culture via Warner Brothers cartoons.

He was a composer who could get away with almost anything.

Yes, most of the golfers are wearing shorts today. A friend and I took his boat out and fished for part of the morning, just trolling deep running lures. I caught a 14.6 lb catfish. We also caught some Guadalupe bass.
