Tunes For The Troops
**Artist Showcase**
Eva Marie Cassidy (February 2, 1963 November 2, 1996) was an American vocalist known for her interpretations of jazz, blues, folk, gospel, country and pop classics. In 1992 she released her first album, The Other Side, a set of duets with go-go musician Chuck Brown, followed by a live solo album, Live at Blues Alley in 1996. Although she had been honored by the Washington Area Music Association, she was virtually unknown outside her native Washington, DC when she died of melanoma in 1996.

Thank you for that very informative post. If the policy of not posting political comments in the FR Canteen is still in-force then I cannot comment further.

The photograph that you see below is our ice-cream-sccop that sits in the kitchen drawer and is still in use to this day.
What is so special about an ice cream scoop so that I would actually photograph it and post it on the internet?:
It was obtained by Mrs. EGS in 1960 using S & H green stamps. You can see that the years have aged it by the worn, pink, plastic paint that has worn off. It is made of hard aluminum. Otherwise, it is as good as new. It is just a good example of the quality of American products back in "those" days. The days and the quality have long-since passed.

The weather has finally “warmed up”. It’s down to 50 at night and 60s during the day.
Yesterday was a cloudless sky and wonderful temperature.
How’re things up your way? Thawed out yet?
To: El Gran Salseron
Yep, we thawed out pretty good.
Had some winds yseterday but today is much more calmer.
Have some nice weather for the next few days. may get some storms next weekend.
My brother and his family from Texas are coming up here for a visit. They're going to stay a few days.
