re: progressive Christians
Uh oh. Nothing good can come from this.
IMHO, every admonition Christ had for taking care of problems were spoken to individuals, not governments. Same for the Apostle Paul. He wrote lots and lots about taking care of the poor and the sick, but every word of it was directed at the Church and individual Christians.
What a good point.
Bump
Teach a man to fish...
vs.
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
While I know that verse is often used to talk about saving souls...it also demonstrates Jesus wasn’t into redistribution of wealth. He was talking about redistribution of knowledge.
Most Christians I know ARE for economic and social justice.
Economic justice means paying people fairly for the work they perform, letting people keep what they earn without envying them, donating to private charities to help those who cannot take care of themselves, etc.
Social justice means treating people equally, not showing favoritism to the poor or rich or treating people differently based on external appearance. etc.
Whatever this evangelical leader is preaching, it sure doesn’t sound like Christianity to me!
