Sen. John McCain's campaign is calling on his primary challenger to disavow the backing of an anti-illegal immigration group that permits the use of terms such as "wetbacks" and "pepper bellies" derisive epithets sometimes used for immigrants on its website.
"Let's be clear: Congressman [J.D.] Hayworth's continued flirtation with extreme groups that condone racism only opens the door for liberals to falsely paint all opponents of illegal immigration as bigots. Congressman Hayworth should immediately disavow this groups support and commit to never again associating himself with groups that accept this kind of hateful and counterproductive rhetoric," McCain campaign spokesman Brian Rogers said in a statement Friday.

You just cooked yourself.
"HEY LOOK AT ME, EVERYONE! I'M THE *REAL* LIBERAL IN THIS RACE!"
Oh if only Mcslime could be illegaly in France, Germany or Iran.
Sorry; not all Mexicans are marching in the streets; and I am very much opposed to La Raza and their curriculum in our schools, but you cannot win in AZ if you come across hateful to a large group of our CITIZENS of Mexican descent.
These threads are based more on emotion than logic.
Ok JohnnyMc may it be bye bye to you in November
Let’s see, where do I normally hear, “Conservatives are racist!” argument?...oh, that’s right, from the progressives.
Absolutely right...and Palin ought to be ashamed of herself for helping him in his attempt to defeat a conservative candidate...the kind of conservative she said she'd be travelling around the country supporting!
McAmnesty is Hayworth’s best spokesperson.
In 2000 I tried to take Reagan's approach to Republican candidates. Say no evil. Encourage the primary debate without, as Palin has warned, turning it into a civil war. But McCain was the exception. I would have supported anyone but him. Remember back then when Democrats were registering in large numbers to win the nomination for him? He should have gone away then.
McCain's spokesman basically called ALIPAC an "extreme group that condone[s] racism." Do you agree with this charge?
According to ALIPAC (press release at post 32),
John McCain's campaign just sent out a press release citing inaccurate information from a left wing pro-Democrat blog called the Phoenix New Times. The McCain campaign makes the false claim that ALIPAC supports, endorses, and uses racially charged terms such as "Wetback" and "Pepper belly" and that ALIPAC is supported by the KKK.
IMO, some unknown racist (i.e., a troll) went on ALIPAC's message boards and spewed racism quoted directly "from a pro-Amnesty blogger website."
In other words, the left-wingers are attacking conservatives and McCain seized the opportunity to join in. McCain is running interference for Obama and the progressives and you (and BunnySlippers) are defending him.
TigersEye is right. You two need to lay off the Kool-Aid.
It’s sad that these days people cannot trust the words put out there by people running for office claiming to want to serve the people. Who knows the truth about what each of these camps did or did not do/say? Seems to me that both camps are playing both sides against the middle with their misquotes and claims of misquotes. It is MHO that the illegal immigration issue must remain on the highroad - that is, public servants must stop allowing the fringe on either side to use them. Public servants who are for border security and enforcing our immigration laws need to stay away from groups who only promote hatred and use racist bigotry. If not, then these public servants are guilty of allowing law abiding citizens to be painted as racist by the liberal loons. McCain is guilty of this and needs to be replaced.
Even so . . . the split infinitive’s still there.
Citizens of Mexican descent who are citizens I have no problem with. I would feel the same way if the French were illegally coming across our borders and expecting free citizenship and taxpayer funded benefits.
This is the way folks like you try to cloud the issue at hand. They are welcome here if they apply and become legal citizens, pay taxes, speak English. They need to apply through the front door and stand in line with those that are doing the right thing.
Politico)- Among the many juicy, anonymously-sourced passages in Game Change is one that could stir some trouble for John McCain in his upcoming primary.
The scene takes place toward the beginning of McCain's bid for the White House:
[McCain aides John] Weaver and [Mark] Salter begged McCain to ease up. He was already the face of the Iraq surge. Now he was becoming the face of what opponents called amnesty. Just tone down the rhetoric, his advisers pleaded.
McCain refused. He was disgusted by Republicans in Congress and talk radio gasbags such as Rush Limbaugh who bashed immigrants. Theyre going to destroy the f*cking party, he would say.
As McCains town hall meetings devolved into shouting matches over immigration, the candidate let his frustration show through. He called Lindsey Graham in despair. Listen to these people, McCain said. Why would I want to be the leader of a party of such a**holes?
Filthy laguage courtesy of John McCain, not yours truly.
HA! He’s called us a LOT worse than bigots!
You are falling into the libtard/McCain trap of thinking "racism" at any protest of this invasion. Wake up.
He is the one pushing insanely extreme ideas such as amnesty, which will only destroy our way of life. He is the one enamored with illegal aliens to a point where it is extremely abnormal.
McCain is the extremist with his crazy family, the mistress/wife and daughter posing with duct tape across their mouths.
Take it up with Politico, rabs only cut-and-pasted the title from the source (as he’s supposed to on FR).
I was planning to no-vote the presidential/vp electors line, but my kids prevailed on me to "vote for Sarah." In hindsight, it is foolhardy to vote for the VP candidate. If I can't support the top of the ticket, I'll withhold my support.
Emotions? Now why would anyone, genuinely concerned for their country, be emotional about being called a racist? That's not logical. /s
Juan you crazy SOB, You have been on the public dole far too long.
