US troops will take part in the May 9 Victory Day parade on Moscow's Red Square. Britain and France have also confirmed their plans to participate in the event marking the 65th anniversary of the 1945 Allied Victory over Nazi Germany. The organizers of the May 9 parade earlier said they would be happy to see US WW2 veterans also taking part in the anniversary march-past.

Sickening.

We should have used A-bombs on the Red Army as fast as we could make them and drop them.

Should have nuked them all the way back across the Vistula.

So you would turn Poland into a radioactive heap?

Why do you hate the Poles so much?

.
The first bomb should have been right on the Reds occupying Berlin. That’s not in Poland.

Why nuke anything? Germany surrendered, Sov U was our ally
and most GIs were chomping at the bit to go home, not
fight Russians on a radioactive battlefield. You realize
that we were also fighting Japan, that we faced invading
Japan at a cost of hundreds of thousands of lives, and that
our nuke inventory numbered two (2) untested bombs.
You’d be fine with killing mostly innocent civilians trying
to survive and refugees trying to get home.

People utter the most ridiculous stuff on this forum sometimes.

Maybe they should invite German soldiers that the people turned to for protection from Stalin.

Hitler and the Nazis were joined at the hip with Islam in the thirties and have never looked back. Islamofascism is not being defeated in the ME and is Hitlers’ most evident legacy. The most popular book in the ME has been “Jihadi” (the Arabic retitled “Mein Kampf”). No “Red Square” celebration is possible in the ME.

Turkey, with the second largest army in NATO terms, is moving rapidly to a powerful contender position for Islamist supremacy in the region, away from the WEST. It is now competetively dancing with Iran.

With the intended absence of the US from Iraq and later from Afganistan in 2011, Islamists will all begin to interrelate further without effective interference and will continue, while competing among themselves, with their common goals of eliminating the US and Israel and expanding an Islamic empire once again, having made vast inroads into current Europe.

Since the US now officially defines Islamic terrorism as “man made disaster”, there is no mentally viable approach for establishing an effective policy of opposition to avoid “submitting” to Islam..there is no middle ground. The battles of history state that there was and is no middle ground. Middle ground only exists in the Western Mind, and it takes at least two to tango.

Thank you, Captain Tangent.

BOT—The US should have had a victory parade in Red Square in 1992 after knocking off the USSR.

Russia was our “ally”? This gets into the field of
American strategy at the time when FDR was surrounded by
communist advisers and was ill. He made poor decisions
with regard to Russia. Remember, Patton, after occupying
Germany said, “we ought to go on to Moscow.

Yes, the Sov U was our ally.

Poor decisions aside, we could not have beaten Hitler
on our own, at least not by 1945. Patton was marginalized
soon after the wars end, and had no influence, having
already outed himself as a loose cannon.

I was only half serious to start with....but since you raise some good points...

After we dropped our first (and only two) bombs, the war with Japan was over. That's why I said we would have to make more and drop them on the Red Army as fast as we could make them.

And yes, the GIs in Europe wanted to get home -- I have spoken with WWII veterans who have told me just that.

But as far as the Soviet Union being our ally, remember that those evil bastards started the war as Hitler's ally -- and we could just as easily been fighting them in the 40s had the Nazis not been even more evil.

There was never any question -- certainly in the minds of the Russians -- that the next war would be them versus the west. What's worse, the Soviets knew of our A-Bomb program in 1945 and had already flooded the project with the spies who later delivered them the ability to build their own

The world would have been a vastly better place had the Russians never been permitted to have the bomb. The west had a very short window of opportunity to destroy the Soviet Union before it became a nuclear power.

So, is it unrealistic to look back now and wonder why the war weary west hesitated? Yes, of course it is -- hence my concession that the suggestion is only half serious.

Sometimes, though, it is good to entertain the vision of a history without the Cold War and all its ancillary conflicts, and an America without the cancer of Marxism that has eaten away at the Republic for the last 60 years. There would have been no LBJ, Carter, Clinton or Obama. Our airwaves would be free of the constant anti-American propaganda, and our children would not be poisoned daily by the Marxist prattling of brainwashed teachers from K-12 and all the way to graduate school.

Those of us old enough to remember what it was like when American children studied hard in class and sang patriotic songs at assemblies, when families ate dinner together and went to church every Sunday , when someone could get a job or even start a business without worrying of government constantly looking over her shoulder, can only dream of an America in the 21st century that would be literate, civil and strong both spiritually and economically.

Ridiculous? Come to think of it, of course it is.

Patton died in December 1945. That's a bit more decisive than being "marginalized."

BTW, while US defeated Japanese navy on sea, Russians crushed their million men Qwantung army on land in Manchuria and ruined their positions in now so-called Northern territories. I bet it is a worthy investment to US victory over Japan.
