This is Sarah Corrie Simpson's first visit to Israel. Her younger sister, Rachel Corrie, was killed by an Israel Defense Forces bulldozer in Gaza in 2003, at the age of 23. Now, the family is suing the state in the Haifa District Court.
"I'm glad the day is finally here, that the eyewitnesses are having a chance to talk in a court of law," she said in an interview with Haaretz on Thursday. "It's been seven long years."
The witnesses, who include Rachel's colleagues in the left-wing International Solidarity Movement, say Rachel climbed atop a mount of dirt to be sure the driver could see her, Simpson said. When he nevertheless kept coming at her, she tried to flee, but tripped and fell. "The bulldozer driver kept driving with the blade down, pushing the dirt over Rachel, and stopped when her body was under the cab."
"My father served in the military in Vietnam and was responsible for bulldozer operations," Simpson added. "He said there is no way that what happened to Rachel would have happened on his watch.

>>>Would you want to meet the bulldozer driver?
“Yes, I would. Ultimately, in order to have any kind of restorative healing process occur, I need to be able to hear directly from him what happened that day and how he feels about it. As well, I hope he would be able to hear and somehow understand the impact this has had on my life and the life of my family. ... but in the end, it is also important that my family and the man who killed Rachel look each other in the eyes. <<<
I think a meeting is a GREAT idea. I think it should take place at the site of the incident. Sarah, her mother and father could stand at the very spot where Rachel died. Then the driver could get back behind the wheel of the bulldozer and try to “smooth things out” with the family.
My parents were very "involved".You should have seen my tooth brushing syllabus! ;-)
She looks like a terrorist to me and the driver. He was protecting himself and his country. Give him a medal
Protecting himself and his country.............ROTFLMAO.
To start with, she wasn't run over. She was standing on a type of platform, fell off of it and hit her head on the dozer blade. The driver stopped at that point and she died at the hospital. There are videos of the whole event. This is just BS by the parents who have to know why their daughter died, which was due to her own stupidity and the parent's stupidity as well for raising her as a left wing idiot.
These people are nuts. Simple truth if you stand in front of a running bulldozer there is a very good chance that you can and will get run over!

Don’t know how edited this is, and it certainly tries to make Israel look bad, but here is video of the incident.
Any link to the videos?

Did Rachel have pancake makeup on?
Well, he might have served in Vietnam -- BUT ON WHICH SIDE?? Given his political views, seems he would have been more comfortable helping Ho and his minions kill American boys.
Nope, sorry but a poster on FR on another similar thread about two days ago had some stills from the video. He was the one who set me straight on how the accident happened. People hear that she “was killed by a bulldozer” and automatically assume she was run over. Perhaps if you search you can find the thread and see the pics for yourself.
You have brought up a good point. There had to be plenty of media around when this happened as well as many more amateur photogs when this happened.
I have looked and looked, finding no pics or vids of this incident. Why?
You are actually taking Rachel Corrie’s side?
You’re not reading very carefully are you?
By siding with those who hate the U.S. and Israel, you deserve all the insults thrown your way.
Your posts were quite clear. You think that the Bulldozer operator should be charged with manslaughter or worse.
Whether your victim is Mother Teresa or some radical demonstrator, you cannot run over someone when you could stop or avoid it.
If you think that denotes lack of support for Israel or the US, then help yourself stretch.
That photo's a fake. Shadows don't match, and the man has no legs.
You’re applying American standards.
She was in a foreign country, at a time of rampant terror and daily fighting.
It was risky and dangerous.
She ASSUMED the bulldozer, if it saw her would stop.
Maybe the driver did, maybe he didn’t, but since this was part of an IDF operation, sovereign rights apply, theirs, not hers.
