President Barack Obama signs S.614 in the Oval Office July 1 at the White House. The bill awards a Congressional Gold Medal to Women Airforce Service Pilots. The WASP program was established during World War II, and from 1942 to 1943, more than 1,000 women joined, flying 60 million miles of noncombat military missions. No snow here... just rained pretty much all day. Not much wind though - we're blessed. Too wet to mow, but we had four deer in the front yard this afternoon, trying to lend a hand with trimming.

We’ve had 15+ inches of new snow

Hello very, very Kool Kat... I hate to tell you this, buy we hit 70 degrees today. Although, you can see where the s\plowed snow was piled up around the grounds... it looks like a series of terminal moraines scattered throughout the lots. I know, too much science channel... well anywho, hang in there... summer will come to Alaska too! And in return, you send us Sarah Palin to save the country... Actually, for me best case scenario is Gingrich/Palin or maybe Romney/Palin for 8 years... then Sarah and whoever for 8 more!!

Good evening, Nitro.....I think spring might be trying. Days all week have been pushing 40, but nights are still lower 20s. We are all hoping, but possible snow showers this weekend.

Hey Kat,

While spring is nice, it is in my nature as an Irishman to be contrary.

I like foul weather, I always did...

but, in the Navy I came to love it!

I was a radar, navigation and communications type and occasionally it was required to go out on the weather deck to identify something or other...

You see RADAR can only tell you something is there, not what the something might be.

Not to sound like an ass but, it gave me a feeling of power and importance to stand out and face the storm...

I am sure it is some macho bullshit I bought into, but I loved it then and I love it now.

Plus, bad weather means fewer people around to ask stupid questions!!
