Ryan: Dems Ramming "Shell" HC Bill Through Committee Monday
The American Spectator ^ | 3.11.10 | Philip Klein

Posted on 03/11/2010 3:49:03 PM PST by BarnacleCenturion

Rep. Paul Ryan says that Democrats are ready to ram a "shell" health care bill through the Budget Committee, on which he serves as ranking Republican member, to use as a vehicle to impose national health care.

In a phone interview with TAS Thursday afternoon, Ryan said that he expects Democrats to begin the complex process on Monday, under which they would have the Budget Committee approve a phantom bill by midnight, which they will then send over to the Rules Committee. At that point, the Rules Committee will strip out all of the language in the phantom bill, and insert the changes to the Senate bill that Democrats have negotiated.

"They don't have the votes right now, but they're creating the vehicle so that they can airdrop in whatever changes they want," Ryan said.

He said that Republicans are outnumbered 2-to-1 on his committee and don't have the votes to stop the bill there. Democrats will also be able to prevent Republicans from offering any amendments, but GOP members will be able to offer "motions to instruct" the Rules Committee, that Ryan said will be used highlight problems with the "unprecedented" step that Democrats are taking.

He said he expected Democrats to dust off last year's health care bills from the Education and Labor and Ways and Means Committees, to use as the vehicle for reconciliation changes.

He also warned against focusing too much on the reconciliation process in the Senate. "Reconciliation is a distraction," he said. "Once the House passes the Senate bill we have the massive new entitlement."

I dont understand. Dont they have to pass the original Senate bill?

Yes.

But they simply do not care.

They believe that the liberal socialists being in absolute control is in the nation;s best interest.

Pay attention to what Rush Limbaugh has said in the past - Liberals fully believe that it is in your best interest for them to be in charge.

You are missing a crucial point - They don’t care. They are going for broke. They believe that if they can get it passed that it can’t/won’t be rescinded.

You know, with all these extra-Constitutional measures, I suspect it will actually be a breeze to rescind it.

They are talking about putting the senate bill thru without a house vote. Once BO signs it then they issue new bills to fix the difference.

Won’t that mean the USSC can wipe the entire 2700 pages with one decision?

If they can get it through they’ll probably have all the power they need to keep control. Thats my guess anyway.

That is my question too. Either the House has the Senate bill as written or if they change even one word it will have to go back to the Senate for another vote or go to conference to come up with one bill that BOTH house would need to vote on again....or did I miss an episode of “Constitution Rock”?

It doesn’t matter if the 2010 election gets rid of dems,,we will be stuck with this forever.

It is like those people who love to see the stock market get shaky just so they can blame the dems.

We don’t want this bill.

“We” was generic. You’ve been here long enough to not quibble with the small ideas. We have a bigger fight.

I think its to the point of having physical bodies blocking doorways to not let this happen. This is an outrage!! This needs to be stopped... The repubs should seriously think about a literal blockade of bodies to stop this.

Ryan is going to be on Hannity tonight. Maybe he will explain this and get the word out to all Patriots.

There’s not much time to figure out a strategery. OTOH, as was clear from the Beer-Health Summit, the Republicans as a whole have more intelligence in one of their toenails that the Rats’ entire lifetime of brain activity combined.

When it comes to the complex, inside-baseball-stuff, I know our guys are smarter. Just don’t know if that’s enough.

I am waiting. Got ammo enough and maybe not quite enough clips but will make do.

Where do we meet up?
