There are several red tail hawks in my neighborhood that dive for my dog all the time. He’s 15 pounds so they change their minds but a Chihuahua wouldn’t be a problem for them at all!

Hypothetically speaking, if someone had a small dog they hated, how could they entice and owl to take the pain in the a$$?

Often I get to watch the neighborhood sparrow hawk land in our trees and look for prey around the bird, rabbit, and squirrel feeders. Not so surprisingly, when the hawk is around, nothing else is stirring.

I keep many cats as theyre the best method I have found to control the ratlesnake population on my property. The cats arent pets they just live here. On several occaisions over the years I've heard my cats get snatched up by owls. Ive never seen it happen but I have a friend who has. He said the owl first landed on his barn then swooped down and took a cat as it was being distracted by others.
The cats do a good job of avoiding the coyotes around here but they don't do as well with the owls.

I know these people are from CA, but didn’t they realize a fence offers no protection against Owls and other Raptors?
See, all you CA folks, they can FLY OVER the top of the.....oh, never mind

The resolution to this problem is to get a real dog not some Paris Hilton purse pup.

On this recent night, the birds set their sites on larger prey. What's the URL for "larger prey?" It's spelled "sights." Things you look through to focus your aim.

Funny true story...
I got to the private range my club leases, with my son for a day of shooting...it is on the opposite side of the road from an airport which is for private planes and the local air national guard....on the airport side of the road from range entrance a road kill deer was being picked at and eaten by a large owl. we stopped next to it for a minute and watched it....
we went to the range for a couple of hours....
...upon exiting we looked for the owl but it was gone.....along with the 80 lb deer...of course we know that there are patrolling maintenance people who clean up the airport side of the road....but the last time we saw the deer it had the owls talons firmly clasped into it...makes ya think.

We have several pair of bald eagles that nest near our home. They are amazing when they swoop down and grab prey. I’ve seen them carry off big fish, squirrels, snakes...I think a chihuahua, on land, would be easy pickins’ for a large bird of prey.
