The Obama administration’s six-month delay in approving new offshore drilling leases in federal waters will become a new three-year ban, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar quietly told reporters last Friday. Which means that no new oil and gas leases will be approved during President Obama’s term even though two –thirds of the American public supports such activity, according to a December 2009 Rasmussen poll.
Sixty percent also believe that gas and oil prices will drop if the government allows offshore drilling, opening up an estimate 14 billion barrels of oil and 55 trillion cubic feet of natural gas
On July 14, 2008 President George W. Bush lifted an executive ban on Outer Continental Shelf leasing. On October 1, 2008, in a bipartisan agreement, Congress lifted another longstanding ban on new oil and gas leasing in the OCS.
Drilling was supposed to begin this July. But Salazar said he intends to discard the 2010-2015 lease plan developed by the Bush administration in favor of a new plan that won’t even go into effect until 2012.
“Secretary Salazar has finally confirmed what had long been feared – that the Obama Administration has no intention of opening up new areas for offshore drilling during his four-years in office,” said Rep. Doc Hastings, the ranking Republican on the House Natural Resources Committee.
So for the next three years and probably more, trillions of dollars in domestic energy assets will remain untouched while billions of dollars more are spent on foreign oil.

Wasn’t Lindsey Graham just at the WH yesterday with Francois’ Kerry and Lieberman discussing energy policy with the POTUS? I recall dufus Lindsey saying if we wanted more drilling and nuke power, we would have to put a carbon ‘tax’ in place. As always idiot Sen Graham is listening to what Obama is saying, rather than watching what his administration in DOING!!! Get a clue America, do not listen to the messiah’s words, watch his actions if you want to know what is in his heart.
Yeah. Kill the economy and send money to our enemies. Just think how many jobs would be created by offshore drilling. Sounds like a plan Barack!

I knew, when he talked about this in the State of the Union Address it was a bunch of BS. All the Republicans stood and clapped, but the looks on their faces showed that they knew it, too.

I’ll say one thing about 0bama: When his term is over, from the national security standpoint, he’ll likely be seen as having protected the US really, really well. Because as long as his programs are going on and being slowly and relentlessly enacted into law, any enemy of the US would be utterly insane to disrupt that process. 0bama is doing their work for them, better than any of them could do on their own.

I am wondering when that does happen, with unemployment how American’s will react. I really think that folks are at a breaking point with Obama.
He is all for green, we can’t do that, nor do I want to but it was like give them nuclear energy, knowing they have taken the place for waste away and years for approval.
Obama wants to be so like the EU, why doesn’t he just move over there?

Well, earlier today Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell signed legislation, that had bipartisan support in the Virginia General Assembly, to allocate royalties from the sale of offshore leases to funding transportation in Virginia.
I suspect there’s a litlle battle coming between DC and Richmond.
