Will Millennials leave US to avoid becoming the 'chump' generation? (the Republicrat legacy!)

If Millennials realize they're going to have to pay the fiscal price for baby boomers' sins, they might choose to leave the US for more financially friendly locations.
BY TIM KANE
What if they had a fiscal crisis, and nobody came? What if the chump generation figures out the Ponzi scheme? Bob Samuelson thinks the fallout will be political:
... As baby boomers retire, higher federal spending on Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid may boost Millennials' taxes and squeeze other government programs. It will be harder to start and raise families.
Millennials [ages 30 and younger] could become the chump generation. They could suffer for their elders' economic sins, particularly the failure to confront the predictable costs of baby boomers' retirement.
Samuelson asks the question in a political context, and that's how most analysts interpret the looming fiscal crisis, as if young voters will punish fiscally irresponsible representatives in Washington. My alternative theory focuses on the context of immigration. Already you may have heard about the millions of illegals who departed the U.S. when the Great Recession dried up job opportunities. A lot of crass nativists might think "Good Riddance!" but I wonder what they'll say when their own children seek greener pastures abroad in 10 or 20 years?

When the Social Security retirement benefits were created, average age at death was right around the average age at retirement. Creating a system that assumed this would always be so was insane. Americans need to take up smoking again.

You took the article wrongly.
The article pointed out that the “Boom” gen is just that - so populous that it will “cost” a lot of money to care for them.
It didn’t “blame” them for starting anything as you were quick to imply.

...and get fat, eat alot of “junk”, and drink heavily.
Oh, and also not wear seatbelts.
Oh, the conundrum of being a liberal!

It looked like a tie in to me and I think that a lot of people took it as that, “If Millennials realize they’re going to have to pay the fiscal price for baby boomers’ sins”, people have been conditioned to think that boomers have been running America for about 60 years, except for the good stuff.

Last statement was in the article, and that says they’re going to cost a lot to support because they’re so populous.

1. Dont you have to pay U.S. income taxes even if living abroad? Depends on how much you make. When I was in Korea, you had to make at least $75k to have to pay any US tax. Since my income was not that high, I didn't owe any US Tax but I still had to file.

But where will Americans go? Yeah, where? My kids go to an international school is Sweden. It's made up of expats and Swedes who were expats but were sent back home. They send their kids to international school because THEY CAN NOT WAIT TO GET OUT AGAIN and they all openly vocalize it. That'll be us. Brain drain...but to where?

Yes. Our daughter would like to have dual citizenship. Have to figure out how to make that happen.
Perhaps via a work holiday in Oz, then try to get in under the point system.
Cheers!

So they are going to stop voting Democrat and suddenly become right wingers?
No, like most progressive totalitarians they will simply support euthanasia. Just like Hitler they will simply eliminate those who are no longer productive. The boomers will be disposed of by the socialist Utopia they voted most of their lives to bring about.
The pattern has been followed in every progressive state from the USSR to Nazi Germany to Zimbabwe. No reason to think it will not be followed in the Peoples Democratic Republic of Obamastan.

Just passing on the comments of my 21 year old. There is a big disconnect between the various demographic groups on how this is all going to play out.

I have carefully maintained my daughter’s dual citizenship in Israel, in no small part for this reason.
(I also want to go home, but that’s not the main reason.)

No, they are going to “opt” out and laugh at anyone who trys to hold them accountable. They are just as big (population wise) as the boomers with a totally different view on how things should be handled.
To: ansel12
Boomers had zero to do with creating those programs, Governor Palin was one year old when America passed the last two (the oldest boomer was still a teen) and SS is from the 1930s.
Article doesn't have to do with who created the programs. Article has to do with who has been in power these last few decades after definitive proof has been provided as to the programs' solvency and nothing has been done!

Keep voting democrat, suddenly become republicans, quit voting at all and let others decide, what?

We (Freepers) would be wise to read up on the collapse of the USSR. Might pick up a few pointers on how to survive maybe even prosper. Also time to develop low tech skills like growing food, canning, fishing and water well digging.
