Rahm Emanuel has emerged as the major problem within the White House on reform of immigration.
A New York Times magazine article due out this Sunday reports that Hispanic leader in Congress believe that he does not take the the issue seriously and is the person blocking progress.
The New York Times writer Peter Baker reports that "The Congressional Hispanic Caucus say he does not pay attention to their issues. Hispanic lawmakers blame him for a provision inserted into the Senate health care legislation that would bar illegal immigrants from buying policies on new insurance exchanges even with their own money, and they complain that he is not putting any energy behind liberalizing immigration laws.
There are strong feelings about Rahm Emanuel among members of the Hispanic caucus, Representative Nydia Velázquez of New York, the head of the caucus, told The Times.
People feel Rahm Emanuel has not been helpful in moving forward. Hes always about the numbers. Hes always about being the pragmatist. Hes always about winning.
Private criticism of Emanuel by immigration groups is nothing new but the very public nature of these comments is.Emanuel is famously impatient about pushing any legislation that he believes has a low chance of passing, preferring the president spend time on issues that he can get legislation passed on.
His problems with the Hispanic lobby however, may come back to haunt him. The New York Times makes clear he is a Chief of Staff under siege, whose job may be on the line in the next few weeks or so, especially if the health care legislation stalls again. If he is in difficulty the Hispanic lobby is hardly likely to want to help.
The article is by "Irish Central" who lobbies for amnesty for 40 million illegal alien Irish.

The hispanic caucus should pay him a visit in the shower since that seems to be where he makes deals.
:<)
This is all kinds of good news.
No more Kennedys!!!!!
So Rahm has some redeeming value it appears.
Yeah, I think he’s the designated tackling dummy.
NO S***!
40 million seems a bit high. The article says “There are an estimated 50,000 Irish illegal immigrants in the U.S.; 30,000 of them are thought to live in New York City.”
At least they ain’t Mussies
Note to the Irish: Send more folks to the USA!
“Note to the Irish: Send more folks to the USA!”
Note to the Irish: If you’re here ILLEGALLY, go HOME!
I have to say, Rahm is probably smart in blocking another debacle right now.
All the little greedy blood sucking leeches who have attached themselves to the host taxpayer are having hissy fits on who gets the next piece of the long gone American Pie.
Geesh
Reminds me of an actual event that happened because Rahm is an L.A. Jew (the self-hating one): I called one of my Jewish friends “amigo” and because the entire room was full of them, one of them whispered to me “never call us amigos’’. Nope, not making that up.
Guessing he knows its a loser issue. Remember last time when Bush was going to sign it? Congressional switchboard shutdown, etc.
Untill our borders are closed to all..I’ll take a white neighbor instead of what’s being allowed to enter here now!
I don’t like illegals one bit, But the sh!t that’s coming in from the south is stinking up the place!
Sheesh!
So Rahm runs Congress now? What ever happened to separation of powers?
If illegal immigrants can buy on exchanges with their own money wouldnt that encourage people in other countries with major health problems to come here for the express purpose of getting insurance and then treatment? With the result that premiums would rise for everyone else?
Sounds like Rahm is right on this one.
Democrats don’t worry about that silly old stuff.
