Sarah Palin: Just another whiny liberal claiming victimization
NJ.com ^ | 3/9/10 | Paul Mulshine

On her blog, Elizabeth Wright offers an excellent analysis of the mass hysteria that is the Sarah Palin phenomenon.

Wright is a black conservative who specializes in debunking the sense of victimhood that so many black leaders love to employ to their advantage. She argues that the many wannabe conservatives who are Palin fans are employing the same tactic. They invoke the liberal sense of victimhood in her defense.

That of course is the essence of the Palin cult. It consists of people who feel that they're being put upon by their betters. It never occurs to these characters to ask why Palin could be bested in an interview by her fellow airhead - and now fellow talking head - Katie Couric.

Imagine for just a second that the late William F. Buckley had been interviewed by Couric. Is there the slightest chance that Buckley would have come out second best? Is there the slightest chance that the intellectual and elitist Buckley would have done anything other than patronize the plebian Couric?

Wright does a good job of pointing out how Palin invokes the same sense of victimhood as those self-appointed spokesmen for black Americans:

In fact, many of these so-called independent thinkers on the right appear to equate a person who harbors sentiments that "exclude" others as un-American. "Inclusion" is the order of the day – because liberals taught them so. Now that Sarah Palin is on the scene, conservatives are warming to the task of smearing opponents as "sexist." Yet another victory for their liberal mentors.

Best of all, she even quotes the sole genuinely conservative columnist on any major American newspaper:

Donna..

The liberal staple of “Group Think” has invaded Palin-bots.... Alinsky tactics will be in their arsenal against anyone who doesn’t think she’s qualified to be President.

Palin supporters have taken the Left-wing route of completely stomping out conservative individual freedom and thoughts.

Do you have any idea who Olene Smith Walker is?

How about Judy Martz?

Jane Hull?

Palin is riding her fame 95% on her good looks. Denying it shows what a cloud of fairy dust you folks are living in.

LOL, “Group think” is when when a couple of nutcase trolls starts accusing freerepublic and it’s owner of using “Alinsky tactics’ to promote a leading conservative candidate.

I’m assumuing the answer is NO. You haven’t heard any of them women IN YOUR LIFE!

Why? Because they were old and unattractive, strong female conservative governors from Utah, Montana, and Arizona.

They had 0% chance of ever being on a VP ticket because they looked old and decrepid.

The next Republican President is going to need military experience.

So which of your favorite potential Republican candidates for 2012 meet that requirement? And what other qualities do they bring to the ticket?

Again, well done putting words in my mouth. I didn’t accuse Jim Robinson of anything you genius. I accused YOU.

Good job calling other people trolls.. You seem to a professional at it as you’ve failed to make a single post to prove you have an IQ above 50.

Thanks for ducking right out of that attractive argument. I’m taking it you are conceding defeat as it appears you have thrown up the white flag?

So we atleast we now agree on one thing.. Sarah Palin is where she is because of her looks.

Onerom99 I think that you just don’t know much about Palin, you are so wired tonight and so worked up into a troll frenzy that you are just rambling and posting nonsense.

The Most Popular Governor
Alaska’s Sarah Palin is the GOP’s newest star.
BY Fred Barnes
July 16, 2007, Vol. 12, No. 41
Juneau

The wipeout in the 2006 election left Republicans in such a state of dejection that they’ve overlooked the one shining victory in which a Republican star was born. The triumph came in Alaska where Sarah Palin, a politician of eye-popping integrity, was elected governor. She is now the most popular governor in America, with an approval rating in the 90s, and probably the most popular public official in any state.

Her rise is a great (and rare) story of how adherence to principle—especially to transparency and accountability in government—can produce political success. And by the way, Palin is a conservative who only last month vetoed 13 percent of the state’s proposed budget for capital projects. The cuts, the Anchorage Daily News said, “may be the biggest single-year line-item veto total in state history.”

As recently as last year, Palin (pronounced pale-in) was a political outcast. She resigned in January 2004 as head of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission after complaining to the office of Governor Frank Murkowski and to state Attorney General Gregg Renkes about ethical violations by another commissioner, Randy Ruedrich, who was also Republican state chairman.

State law barred Palin from speaking out publicly about ethical violations and corruption. But she was vindicated later in 2004 when Ruedrich, who’d been reconfirmed as state chairman, agreed to pay a $12,000 fine for breaking state ethics laws. She became a hero in the eyes of the public and the press, and the bane of Republican leaders.

In 2005, she continued to take on the Republican establishment by joining Eric Croft, a Democrat, in lodging an ethics complaint against Renkes, who was not only attorney general but also a long-time adviser and campaign manager for Murkowski. The governor reprimanded Renkes and said the case was closed. It wasn’t. Renkes resigned a few weeks later, and Palin was again hailed as a hero.

Palin, 43, the mother of four, passed up a chance to challenge Republican senator Lisa Murkowski, the then-governor’s daughter, in 2004. She endorsed another candidate in the primary, but Murkowski won and was reelected. Palin said then that her 14-year-old son talked her out of running, though it’s doubtful that was the sole reason.

In 2006, she didn’t hesitate. She ran against Gov. Murkowski, who was seeking a second term despite sagging poll ratings, in the Republican primary. In a three-way race, Palin captured 51 percent and won in a landslide. She defeated former Democratic governor Tony Knowles in the general election, 49 percent to 41 percent. She was one of the few Republicans anywhere in the country to perform above expectations in 2006, an overwhelmingly Democratic year. Palin is unabashedly pro life.

Like I said...looks doesn't hurt but if you think SP's rise is 95% looks you are the one who is very shallow...

I could list her accomplishments again but since you have a narrow one track mind why bother? Doesn't mean you win an argument because the other person doesn't want to bother with you...

Palin’s Prospects
She dashed her chances of winning the 2012 nomination, but a path to the presidency remains open to Sarah Palin.
BY Fred Barnes
July 5, 2009 4:30 PM

Forget about Sarah Palin as the Republican presidential candidate in 2012 and probably ever. “

There’s your man. He goes on to say that she needs to go the 2012 House/2014 Senate rout and look at 2020 when shes only 56.

I don’t hate Sarah, never hated Sarah. I was pulling for her to polish up her game but I was disappointed by her sophomoric performances the past few months. I still don’t think she’s done. She’s just an absolutely lousy candidate for 2012.

You want me to list the accomplishments of the other Governors? Do you seriously believe that she’s the only GOP governor in history that has ever accomplished anything?

You Palin-Bots live in a warped, alternative world bubble where up is down, black is white.
