My Race is "American"

Mark Krikorian from the National Review Online has a great suggestion on how we can all fight back against the divisive racial classifications perpetuated by the government via the Census.

Mark’s recommendation is to enter “American” as our response to Question #9 on the 2010 Census Form that will soon be mailed out to all American households.

We urge you to do this and stop the continual segregation of America into more and more racial classes. We are one people and one country under God. We are all Americans!

I think they would want to to be more specific. Like maybe you should answer the race question with “Daytona 500” or whatever.

The dea lwould be they could come back at you because you did not answer the questions. The way I suggest, you’ve answered the questions, you’ve answered them hnestly, not supplied false answers. Just not the answer they want. And that’s too bad for them, you answeredthe questions accurately and honestly.

This is a great goal: we are all American! but the trouble
is, balkinization has occurred. Racial and ethnic groups
have formed their own enclaves. Speaking their own languages
and following their own traditions; They don't even know
what American is.

I’m a Native American. My great grandparents came over from Ireland and Germany, but I was born here, as were my parents and grandparents.

I’ve always put “human” on mine. I also tell my kids to write the same on any school forms.
