Mitt Romney warns tea parties (to vote for him or else!) (he also praises Crist) (BARF ALERT)
Politico ^ | 2010-03-09

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is warning the tea party activists to not run third party candidates that would “divide” Republican voters and waste opportunities for the GOP.

Romney said in an interview with Newsmax posted on the conservative outlet’s website Monday night that he was pleased the conservative grassroots movement is “silent no longer.”

The likely 2012 GOP presidential candidate cautioned though that while he supports the idea of conservative challenges in GOP primaries, third party tea party-backed candidates in the general election could be disastrous.

“Divide and fail is the result,” Romney said of third party challenges. “That would hand over the country to [President] Barack Obama and [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi and [Senate Majority Leader] Harry Reid, and that would be very sad indeed.”

While Romney urged caution for the general election, the former governor indicated that has no problem letting the party sort out its divisions in primaries.

Asked about libertarian Rep. Ron Paul’s (R-Texas) place in the GOP, Romney said “we welcome his participation in our party,” adding “we’re a big-tent party.”

Romney also wouldn’t take sides in the Senate primary fight in Florida between Gov. Charlie Crist and former state House Speaker Marco Rubio.

“I like both of those individuals. I haven’t decided whether to endorse one or the other or neither, but I hope whoever wins the primary is able carry on very effectively in the general election,” Romney said. “We need more Republican senators in Washington very badly right now.”

The McCain/Palin ticket was up ++8 to 10 pts. in some polls, days prior to the election. So rather than helping the GOP, poor loser “I am Myth” Romney and TeamROMNEY decided …… to attack Gov. Palin (and her defenseless children) to throw Election2008.

Romney and all his sycophants can rot in Hell for that.

Well, judging by the comments here, Obama wins another term because tea partiers(and I have attended tea parties and would just as soon throw DC into the Potomac) are too stubborn or stupid to vote to keep a dangerous socialist out of the Presidency.

No Romney fan here, but, good grief. Wake up. Romney would be my last choice Republican, just like McLame, but worlds better than Obama.

This is the Liberal RINO approach that real conservatives are tired of.

Do you like Romney’s version of socialized medicine better than Obama’s?

Conservatives will no longer waste their conservative votes on Liberal RINOs

We have to vote for RINO’s because there aren’t enough conservatives to actually win? Is that what he’s saying?

For a smart guy he really is pretty dumb.

Mr. Romney "Disses" Amateur Radio In Televised Town Meeting

"Mitt Romney...alienating America one group at a time." - AlaskaErik

Gov. Sarah Palin, Governor of the state of Alaska, proclaimed the week of July 28 through August 3, 2008 as: Amateur Radio Week

"Governor Orders POW/MIA Flags Flown for Former Prisoners of War Recognition Day"

"Office of the Governor of the State of Alaska ^ | 04-09-09 | Gov. Sarah Palin
April 9, 2009, Juneau, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin today signed a proclamation declaring April 9, 2009,
as Former Prisoners of War Recognition Day. The governor has ordered POW/MIA flags
to be flown in honor and memory of American men and women
who have placed themselves in harm’s way and faced the horrors of combat."
“The price paid by POW/MIA soldiers in defense of liberty is worthy of our highest
gratitude and most solemn remembrance,” Governor Palin said.
“On this day and always, they are in our thoughts and prayers. We will never forget them or their service.”

At left, his wife Danielle and daughter Kylie, 2, talk near the swing set. Circosta,
a decorated Iraq War veteran, seemed like an ideal candidate for a pardon from
then-Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for the 29-year-old's boyhood conviction
for a BB gun shooting. Romney denied the pardon,
twice, despite the recommendation of the Governor's Council.

No! NO NO NO!

The Republicans DO NOT RUN that no good son of a bitch! THAT is the point. If they do then the REPUBLICAN PARTY is to blame for another democrat win, NOT ME.

Great Jehosephat, Romney is SUCH a mealy-mouthed coward. Look up "weenie" in the illustrated dictionary and his picture comes up. WHAT HE'S DOING IS THE OPPOSITE OF LEADERSHIP.

If Hillary Clinton switched parties to Republican and ran for office, Romney would not only be telling us he was going to wait and see if he'd endorse her in the primary, but that she'd be valuable in Washington if she won.

We have one dictator as POTUS now, why would we want another one? Stick it Romney, neither you, nor mitt or anyone RINO will get my vote. Hopefully we will nominate someone who holds the freedom of the individual in high regard.

I fail to see how I’m better off with a republican forcing liberalism and marxism down my throat. Here in Michigan it was a “republican” who introduced the bill that forced the unionization of home care workers. There were 7 other “republicans” who went along with the scam in return for SEIU money and support. Michigan’s newest state senator was even given 4 SEIU members to work on his campaign full time. Woo hoo republicans won. [/sarc]

Man. That's pathetic. I really wish people who think Romney would be better than Obama stop and THINK about how Obama happened in the first place, and EXPLAIN how what happened in your state is better than what would have happened if republicans LOST.

You people who would hold their noses and vote for Romney, as I would have done eight years ago but NOT NOW: it doesn't matter whether Republicans win or lose, as cripplecreek's post illustrates. It ONLY MATTERS whether or not CONSERVATISM wins. Going third party is a certain suicide option; therefore, conservatives must retake the Republican party. Big government liberal republicans MUST LOSE if we want the nation to right itself.

Those of you clever folks who retort, "Letting Obama win is a suicide option!" would do well to analyze and understand how such a far-leftist guy was ever considered "moderate" enough to become U.S. President in the first place. If you think Romney would be better than Obama, then PONDER PLEASE the Democrat president who will inevitably follow him someday. Romney will have pushed the "right" so far left that the "center" will be to the left of Mao. The Democrat party will embrace it and the next Democrat president will make Obama look like John Birch.

Check it out. My state senator was one of the sell outs.

I suspect a lot of people might be surprised at what their legislators of both parties do under the radar.

My point exactly!

I think that in the interest of electing a true conservative to the presidency Maybe we ought to think outside the box and nominate someone who can unite conservatives and Republicans of all stripes. Mitt is old guard and a GOP insider who will tell everyone what they want to hear to get elected but then we end up with a RINO in office.

Granted if he were elected as the Rep Nominee then we would have to vote him in but would we? Can he inspire the folks who truly want change. Who does history call for in this moment of national need? Mitt??

Be very careful about politicians from Texas.
Texas has a constitution that mandates a balanced budget.
The State congresscriters only meet every 2 years.

The above makes Texas politicians appear more conservative.

It’s so funny to see people attack Romney for following Palin’s example.

Palin endorses McCain, then Romney endorses McCain. People can’t attack Palin, so they attack Romney.

Palin says 3rd parties are bad, Romney agrees with her, people attack Romney because they can’t attack Palin.

For the record, I agree that in most cases, running a 3rd party candidate will guarantee a democrat wins. That’s what happened in the 23rd.

Sometimes, that is a better outcome than electing the republican. I think that’s the case in the 23rd. Other times it would be a nightmare. Imagine if conservatives had run a “real conservative” against Brown and Coakley in Mass.

I could care less what Romney’s view, or Palin’s view is, on this. 3rd parties will cause us to lose elections, and the only decision to make is whether in a particular case that would be better than winning.

Primaries on the other hand are a great place to run Conservatives.

No. What causes the GOP to lose elections
are the saboteurs of Mitt Romney.

How dare they attack Gov. Palin during the last
Election and come around now.

Now you are a scold? a Scold? How the mighty have fallen.

“How dare they!!!”

You keep going after those saboteurs of yours, while the grown-ups figure out how to actually win elections and advance the conservative cause.

Being “grownups” was not on the mind (if they have any)
of TEAM ROMNEY when it attacked Gov. Palin on the
“eve” of Election2008?

Because there is only one goal to you saboteurs
of Romney - destroy the conservative competition
in the GOP for Mitt Benedict RomneyCARE.
