When former President George W. Bush addresses the Economic Club of Grand Rapids in June, will he be riding a wave of nostalgia?
New York Times columnist Stanley Fish points to a few signs that Bush's image rehab has begun. One literally is a sign -- a billboard in Minnesota with an image of a smiling, waving Bush and a message that reads, "Miss Me Yet?"
He also notes a Newsweek cover story that vindicates Bush's Iraq policy, "Mission Accomplished" and everything.
Fish writes that Bush nostalgia, if it indeed exists, is the result both of Bush's relative silence since leaving office and growing public frustration with the Obama administration:
Bush profited from the fact that he kept a low profile and didn't snipe at his successor, a task left to his vice president, who therefore took upon himself the enmity and scorn previously directed at his former boss...

Don’t dance around the question. Did the crew of the Abe accomplish their mission or not?
Heck, I even miss Bill Clinton.
So now I am an idiot for quoting your own words? You really are a POS.
They did! Bush didn’t! ...and the WH STILL manufactured the banner!
I just remember General Tommy Franks going on shows attempting to correct the record. I think its also in his book. I know you can Google “Tommy Franks Mission Accomplished”. Lots of crap comes up, but also his rebuttal.
Take the "Bush gave us Obama" meme, for example. It's not really a lie, just stupid.
Bush gave us Obama! Yeah, right. And the Indianapolis Colts gave us the New Orleans Saints.
Yes, they did accomplish their mission. Your issue really isn't the banner, your issue is Bushatred.
But in the end, Bush accomplished his mission too. The Surge worked and Obama is following Bush's Iraq schedule.
I would have missed him until he said he was willing to throw capitalism under the bus for TARP.
There is so much corruption and manipulation within our media and political system it's a cryin shame.
Government for the people, by the people and of the people???
Pffftt......whatever!
Sure you would have. “Rush, I’ve been a Republican all my life, but . . . .”
Even Clinton didn’t do the stuff Obama has and he did have stature then.

Bush family = globalist elite, one world government, oligarchs.
Nope, all these praise Bush threads make me ill.
Geesh, Bush does’t even have the guts to stick up for us now.
Screw Bush.
Yep, lost my job.
And they always did, that's my point. So don't give the rest of us a load of bull---- about how you "waited" until Dec. of '08 when Bush made that comment about the free market.
Do I miss George “I have to destroy capitalism in order to save it” Bush?
The answer is a resounding NO!
Bush was, I mean is, a big spending, big government, redistibute the wealth socialist progressive. But I am sure those who miss him know that already.
Who can forget such great moments with Bush as, doubling the size of the Department of Education, presciption drug benefit for seniors, 100 billion to Africa to fight AIDS, creating the TSA, TARP I, bailing out GM.
PLEASE, enough of this BDS from faux conservatives, which Bush most surely is.
Sad it took him that long. I voted for a Bush twice, still would as opposed to the opposition. I still think the SOB stinks.
Think that is odd?, well that is why he won. Thing is, that will no longer wash.
It's not everyday you see one of the Class of '98 pull something like this....
