Nobody is sure how it started. Perhaps Christian activists sent text messages warning that Muslims were trying to poison them. Maybe Muslims tried to storm a church. Whatever the cause, the consequence this past January was mayhem for the Nigerian city of Jos. Muslim-Christian rioting killed up to 500 people before the government intervened with its customary heavy hand.
The most striking point about these battles was that nobody found them striking. In Jos, as in countless other regions across Africa and Asia, violence between Christians and Muslims can erupt at any time, with the potential to detonate riots, civil wars, and persecutions. While these events are poorly reported in the West, they matter profoundly. All the attention in the Global War on Terror focuses on regions in which the U.S. is engaged militarily, but another war is raging across whole continents, one that will ultimately shape the strategic future. Uncomfortably for American policymakers, it is a war of religions and beliefsa battle not for hearts and minds but for souls.

"The question now was just how much further Christian numbers could grow. If you extrapolate recent Christian growth into the near future, no Muslim majority seems safe, even in a place like Nigeria, where some polls in recent years have suggested an outright Christian majority. (More conservative estimates register around 46 percent.) Even nonpolitical Muslims worry: might their grandchildren be kaffirs? Worse, these newer Christians are not like the minority communities familiar in a Middle Eastern context, groups like the Egyptian Copts, who of necessity were politically quietist: the new African believers are dynamic and expansionist. The most successful follow energetic Pentecostal and evangelical forms of faith rather than the sober liturgical habits of older groupings."
Good read.
NIGERIA - Third largest oil exports to US.
Islamists are stirring up trouble there because they want
it to hurt us economically.
Oh yes, I’m sure the christians just ran amok and started
attacking muslims. Muslim rioting would be more
to the point.
However the gist of the article is still valid, this is
a clash between the hegemonist ideology that calls itself
a religion and christianity .
Very good read.
As Western Europe continues it’s cultural suicide, I fully expect that the vast majority of Christians will be from third world nations.
Eventually, the papacy will be inhabited by a someone other than a European.
Great changes are coming to the Christian community in the next 100 years including great violence from the Religion of Peace.
Islam is being sociologically demolished on the continent of Africa by Christianity.
Their only answer is to kill Christians. It will not win them converts.
Yeah right.
They wouldn't be stirring up trouble otherwise, would they?
Your focus is too narrow. Islamists see anyone who doesn't follow their specific view of Islam as infidels...including Islamists with a slightly different view. They kill infidels. Period. It is their ghoulish form of amusement. Any Christian is a target. Arab Islamists kill Black Islamists because them see themselves as superior. See Darfur for examples. Wahabbis see themselves as superior to Sunnis or Shias. They eat their own...and everyone else.
Fourth World War.
The Cold War came in hot on the heels of WWII.
From the Article:
Christianity also attracted independent-minded women. In traditional societies, conversion occurred when the head of a clan or family accepted a new religion and brought his kin with him. Now, when a patriarch accepted Islam, youngsters demurred, preferring to seek personal salvation in Christianity. And inconceivably, women even refused to accept arranged marriages to suitable Muslim men. Religious splits became family feuds, escalating the potential for malice and retaliation.
It is interesting to note here that the “head of household” conversion is mentioned in the New Testament several tomes. About the arranged marriages, I find it somewhat intriguing that it is viewed socially as such a negative; do people think that [most] parents wouldn’t try to arrange a good and beneficial-to-their-child marriage? The high divorce-rate of the US isn’t really a good argument FOR the choose-your-own-spouse argument.
That is because Islam is a theocratic system of government rule established by a conquering warlord.
They are intolerant and will not live under rule of someone who is not a “true believer” (even if that is a different strain of Islam or other “faiths of the book”).
Islamic imperialism is the threat. The Saudis fund the expansion of wahabism in the West. This war has waged for over a thousand years and fuel is being added to the fires.
The world can stand united against it but is unwilling to. And so the battles are taken to be “local” matters only.
There are some who would have been content to let Germany go NAZI as long as they didn’t expand their borders by force.
The Communists used military force and internal revolution to expand the empire and too people were content to say “it’s not my battle”.
Now as America goes Socialist, even Europe says “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!!!”
I wouldn’t want my father arranging my marriage. A hideous judge of character.
>I wouldnt want my father arranging my marriage. A hideous judge of character.
LOL - I can understand that. However, it would be mistaken to say that all fathers are “hideous judges of character.”
I know I know.
