Why is the national security community treating the "Enemy Belligerent, Interrogation, Detention, and Prosecution Act of 2010," introduced by Sens. John McCain and Joseph Lieberman on Thursday as a standard proposal, as a simple response to the administration's choices in the aftermath of the Christmas Day bombing attempt? A close reading of the bill suggests it would allow the U.S. military to detain U.S. citizens without trial indefinitely in the U.S. based on suspected activity. Read the bill here.

Can we say Garden Plot
Big Government will keep us "safe"...just like it did on September 11!
They attacked Bush mercilessly for wanting to spy on and detain terrorists.
Now we have detainment for citizens and we have cell phone tracking, web page logging and email reading.... where are the marches and the big protests??
hhhhmmmmmm.....
They seem to be getting there ducks in a row!
Palin truly needs to reconsider supporting flaming socialist McAmnesty.
They seem to be getting their ducks in a row, also! (:D
It might not matter by then.
We will no longer be considered Citizens, but Potential Combatants.
You expected something else from a communist?
Why did someone claim that this bill required a close reading? It's fairly obvious that it is unconstitutional. Seems to be a specialty of McCain.
I think that he wants to do as much damage to the constitution as he can before JD whups his butt in the primary.
Hmmmmm ...... is right!
And .. here we have two of the biggest RINO-types doing the democrats dirty work.
How nice.
I’d move to AZ if I thought my vote against McCain would do any good.
“based on suspected activity.”
I wonder if the PROGRESSIVES have got a re-education camp somewhere that’s big enough to hold the TeaPartiers?

“The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it.”
1. Obama thinks he’s Lincoln;
2. like McCain, 0 knows that he and his henchmen from both parties are as popular as turds in the punch bowl; and,
3. the US Constitution is something to be followed only when it suits him.
Despite the photoshopped image of Obama ripping the Constitution, note that the bill was introduced by the 2008 Republican nominee and the favorite Democrat of the Pubbies.
It should now be clear why McCain said Theodore Roosevelt would be his role model if elected President.
Bottom line: the Constitution (and its Bill of Rights) is a dead letter.
It means whatever the elites say it means, which is about 150 degrees opposite of what it originally meant. The difference between the Democrat and Republican elites is the difference between 145 degrees and 160 degrees.
Now comrade you know, if you go against the government, in any way that they seem to think you are a threat. You know, like grandma at the tea party, holding her hateful sign. You can be thrown into detention indefinitely.
Echo's of the good ol' USSR.
