Mideast War in 'Very' Near Future?

JERUSALEM – Egypt is concerned Israel could be in a conflict in the very near future with Syria or the Iranian-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon, a senior Egyptian security official told WND.

The security official said in any future war with Syria or Hezbollah, both actors have been preparing to storm the Israeli border with guerillas and commandos, an act unseen here since the 1973 Yom Kippur War, the last conflict in which Syria was openly involved.

Thank you for that information, I’ve learned something new tonight.

I was actually thinking of the story (probably untrue, but still amusing) of how the Israeli Ambassador to the UN was in a discussion with Arab representatives regarding the Palestinian issue, and the Ambassador said “let me explain to you why it is so difficult to trust the Palestinians, when the Nation Israel was wandering the desert for 40 years, Moses stopped at a small oasis of water to bathe himself, and it was noneother than two Palestinians who stole his clothing, forcing him to wrap himself in local foilage and leaves...” and the Arab and Palestinians representatives arose as one, shouting “that is a LIE! There were no Palestinians back in the time of Moses!”

Whereupon the Israeli Ambassador said “thank you for conceding that point, now let us move on to the issue of ‘what land belongs to who’...”

That is very amusing! Thanks for sharing!

It'd be cool if it was true though!

I think Israel’s misadventure in Lebanon in 2006 make it clear that they aren’t as sharp

I think it makes it clear, hopefully at least to the Israelis, that you can't fight people who want to kill you and your children, and destroy your nation, with Marquess of Queensberry rules. Not unless you want to lose. They should also learn that modern democracies have problems with long wars and casualties. They also found that you can't concede the media war to the other side, unless of course you kick their ashes so thoroughly that it is a short war, and thus the other side's media activities don't matter.

“I think Israel’s misadventure in Lebanon in 2006 make it clear that they aren’t as sharp as they used to be. Sad, but true.”

That war was run by liberal Ehud Olmert who f’ed things up. Netanyahu won’t make those mistakes.

Arabs of Palestine, these days they are referred to as refugees.

Refugees from what? The Israelis did not kick them out. In fact they called for them to stay. It was the Arab states that assured them that if they left, they could return shortly and be in possession of all the property of the Jews, after the Arab armies drove the Jews into the sea, or just killed them outright. Property that in many cases they or their parents had overcharged the Jews for in the first place.

Well, "refugees" produces more emotion than, say, "interloper" or "enemies within" and results in more of the world turning against Israel because of their ostensible "oppression" of the "Palestinian refugees".

If they are refugees, it's because their Arab "brothers" want nothing to do with them and refuse to accept them into their own nations.

God defends Israel........................ My money is on the the will of the Israelis, the IDF and their nukes. God didn’t do too well defending the Jews during 1942-45, I hope he does better this time. The Israelis are gutsy soldiers, they have proven that in the past, and I’m sure they are up to it again. They are a superior trained and educated force against a so so adversary. So long as they keep their intel. to themselves and not divulge it to our current administration they should do fine.

Israel should make a deal with Egypt. Syria is run by the Shiite Alawite tribe, that make up only 10% of the population, over the mostly Sunni other 85-90%. But this means that Syria is like a Shiite spear, pointed at Sunni Egypt.

Likewise, Shiite Hezbollah acts with Shiite ruled Syria as proxies for Shiite Iran.

So Israel’s deal with Egypt should be the following. If Israel has to go into Lebanon to fight Hezbollah, it will. But when it is done, instead of leaving a vacuum there, to be refilled by Hezbollah, why not send in a couple of Egyptian divisions, as “peacekeepers”.

Even more, if Israel fights Syria, its emphasis should be in overthrowing the Alawite rulers, and again, with Egypt’s help, to create majority Sunni rule of Syria.

This would delete both of Iran’s proxies, which threaten both Israel and Egypt, and create a new Sunni state, which like other Sunnis, is less than friendly to Shiite Iran. And disarm Hezbollah in Lebanon in the process.

The Iraq war is undeclared and is therefore merely a police action just like Korea and Vietnam. Just minor skirmishes, that’s all. The last real war the US fought was in the Pacific.

(I hope you brave troops don’t think I’m serious)

Not Yet.

Israel must go through the fire first and be cleansed of its unrighteousness.

Our footprint in the heart of the ME is what has been keeping war between Israel..Arab countries...Russian Invasion and China from carrying out that war....No doubt it will not happen until God has determined that time.

However..Bo wants to bring the troops home this year from Iraq...so that will prove interesting...but we have them now in Aphganistan and Yemen...perhaps..checkmate.

Right..Netanyahu may also make mistakes but he’ll reap the results of an accomplished mission...and then apologize and take the heat after.

I’ve done this in the workplace...pressed up hard against “the rules” or guidlines but when I knew that just stepping over them a bit further would bring the results management wanted..I took the risk..management glad.. and I’d get a slap on the wrist only...that with a smile from them. The feat had been accomplished and desired results...

That’s exactly right...and the rich oil ME nations do not want these people because they use them for cannon fodder to those who believe the right to return issue is still on the table...most of those people are dead by now..it’s really a none issue...further they use the camps to recruit for Jihad and suicide attacks from....keeping them poor is to their ME nations advantage...politcally and from a Jihad perspective.

Egypt is a “broken reed” and Israel knows they are completely undependable and not to be trusted....that would be a foolish move were they to consider it.
