Last year, Missouri ran out of money to pay state tax refunds.
So, as there were few strictures on Federal “stimulus” funds, and
a desire to NOT call the state legislature back into session to fix the
short fall...
a large number of Missourians got their state tax refunds out of
Federal stimulus funds.
Sure, they had to wait till maybe June to get paid, especially if
they waited till late Feb/early March to file.
So far, MO has been doing timely refunds for Tax Year 2009...
but after last year...anything could happen.
I am sooooo glad I live in Texas where we don’t have state
income tax and seem to do all right without it or it’s headaches!
Welcome to Greece.
I’m still waiting for a refund from the City of Detroit for three years now.
...because remember, it’s not really your money, it’s the government’s to do with what they please.
We filed our AL state 2008 taxes on February 1st 2009 and we didn’t get our refund until almost July in 2009. Not expecting anything different this year.
LOL!!!!
Glad to know so many people don’t mind paying more as long as they get more services.
People should be happy that their money is going to people who really need it - like illegals, overpaid government labor unions, etc.
LOL!!!!
So how do you like your “hope and change”? :D
I don’t know, CA paid ours back pretty fast, within a week or two of e-filing.
Not that I relish having to pay them mind you. Them’s just the facts for our situation.
Waiting on the feds now. I suspect they’re going to a bit slower. Have to pay for votes doncha know.
Certainly will NOT make those taxpayers who opted for the “Loans” from various sources based on income tax refund very happy, will it?
Their interest just keeps growing and growing with such delays.
Already?
Most people can hardly even file before the first week of February because of so many organizations dragging the tax documents out to the last minute.
I’d guess that not even half the people have filed yet.
I’m glad ours is done.
Interesting article. We e-filed on January 15 and had our California state refund and federal refund in the bank before the end of January.
All the money being stolen at the state and federal level would more than cover the tax-paying public’s delayed tax refunds.
