This year, more Americans and businesses may be asking: Where's my tax refund?
That's because cash-strapped states such as North Carolina, Alabama and Hawaii have been forced to slow down issuing income tax refunds to individuals and businesses because of a lack of funds in their budget.
Kansas has hinted that a delay might be possible, and processing paper refunds in Iowa has slowed because the state doesn't haven't enough employees to get them processed faster.
Another state, New York, is still considering whether they'll follow the likes of Hawaii and delay refund payments.

This part year in TN, a no-income tax state, I paid $600 city and $650 county property tax. No state property tax.
You have a good point and whenever somebody does not like Texas , I am always suspicious .
Texans don't have to worry about delayed state income tax refunds.
Michigan refunds are being processed as per usual, and I know a few folks who already have their refunds back and spent. Oddly enough, this is a bullet we always dodge.
“Cash-Strapped States Delay Paying Income-Tax Refunds”
Q - What happens to citizens that “delay” paying the state it’s taxes?
A - They get made Treasury Secretary.
“Next year at this time, it wont just be three states. It will be those states, plus the other 54”
Not all states have income taxes.
Good point.
We don’t need “healthcare reform” (socialist medicine) to help the economy.
What we need is tax reform.
Because I have my state flag flying in my profile and I can afford an Internet connection? IQ's on FR are dropping, apparently.
LOL! Yes. Texas is the the end all. Been to Austin lately? Or Houston or DFW? You're over run by illegals. Have a nice day.
Apparently :)
Oh sorry, I finally assed myself to click on your FR profile, apparently you are too lazy to click on mine.

Hey do you think “doesn’t haven’t enough” is bad english??
doesn’t haven’t enough
english as a 4th language.
I divided the budget by population in the City of San Francisco and got $8,250 per person.
The city of SF spends more than $8K per person a year and its still a horrible place.
I cannot even imagine the tax rates it must take to collect that much from the residents.
Wait... They demand under color of authority and force we pay our taxes on time and impose sever penalties if we fail but now they want to hold our “Loot” til who know when?
Why don’t they break the union contracts and unfunded liabilities for government pensions.
They could even ask employees to pay a fair share for their insurance.
Heck, they could even fire or layoff some employees but, noooo... Their hiring binge continues unabated. This despite the fact they will have shortfalls in revenue? Cowards and theives.
The government needs to get some backbone and act more realistically in their budget decisions. Everything from paperclips to duplicate positions needs to be put to a stop.
Heck, our teachers bring supplies for the classroom, why should the government employess be given a cafeteria when there are plenty of restaraunts to serve the lunch and dinner crowds.
You know a week ago I was at the Fairmont, San Jose and there where 4 rooms fool of teachers watching some powerpoint presentations.
The Fairmont, a 4 star hotel, is your venue? Why so you can feel good about your job. What pretentious assholes.
The Fairmont charges pretty penny for their convention services and rooms.
Why not have the meeting at an unused office building? The owner of the building might even cater for free but, definitely at a much reduced rate than a 4 star hotel.
Why not have the meeting at a Howard Johnsons? The rates and catering would most definitely be cheaper.
Why not have the meeting in your own town. These teachers were from Sacramento. So they probably had per diem expenses, mileage and overnight hotel stay.
Some animals are more equal than others.
I never owned property in KS, although it’s my home state. How do libs like Sebalius get elected? Must be Wichita and KC...
“You must rent. I lived in Texas 17 years....my property taxes on my house went from $600 to $1800 to $3600 to $4800 dollars in 8 years in Ft. Worth. I paid $21 for property taxes last year. You can keep Texas and their “no state tax”.”
What’s really neat about Texas is that one can make $250k (to pick a number) and not have to pay anymore in state tax than someone who makes $25k...providing that both of you live in the same value house (or live in an apartment) - and that you use Amazon for most of your purchases. If you do WANT to live your income, you certainly can, but you will be taxed here. But if you are willing to live low (as I do)...then you get a FREE RIDE here...something that NO STATE with an income tax can offer.
Not really, it just has a state flag. You can actually search on FR and find posts. And I don't give a damn where you have pretended to be....
