But he has attached his political fortune to Romney.

I'll cut him some slack until he backs someone for the 2012 nomination. I doubt he is wed forever to Romney.

My advise would be to calm down. This is just one poorly written story. DeMint is about the best we have in DC.

He is so far above Romney now, Mitt would be lucky to get an appointment to head the National Endowment for the Arts in a Demint admin.

How far can DeMint remove himself from Mitt three short years after he thought Mitt was the one?

Not to worry--you know what this means. Poor Lindsey, who has to hire an army to protect him when he shows up in sleepy little Clemson University near his home town of Seneca, is begging the popular DeMint to say something nice about him. Same with Joe Wilson. It's getting so LG can't go home, everyone in SC hates him.

Graham is also dragging down SC GOP donations for other Republicans because no one will donate to the state GOP because they don't want a dime going to a treacherous pol.

Don’t count him as a RINO yet. He’s done and said a lot of good things, and who knows if this report is true.

Well, I voted for Romney in the primary. Remember the lineup we had in 2008? Thompson had already signaled he was dropping out.

It keeps her in good stead with McCain, who has power.

Gigantic mis-read by you in this post and your previous post.

All you have to do is listen to where she has consistently stood on the issues to realize that her support of McCain is one of loyalty and gratitude for bringing her to the public national stage, not agreeance on his positions on the issues.

Just because she is doing this, does not mean she is completely tarnished as you seem to think.

“I’ll cut him some slack until he backs someone for the 2012 nomination. I doubt he is wed forever to Romney.”

I hope you’re right beause we have few true conservatives out there.

What has me perplexed is that these conservatives don’t understand and see the conservative momentum out there. They can stick to their principles and win state and even national office.

If they will only have the moxy to lead.

Please, somebody, anybody lead.

Sad and infuriating but not a huge shock. DeMint and Graham are Washington-based politicians, members of the 'old boys club' called the United States senate. They are also in the same (currently) minority party.

Blunders like this - a conservative Republican (DeMint) apparently defending a RINO (Graham) on an issue where the RINO is dead wrong - is what drives anyone even slightly politically/socially 'conservative' to (figuratively) embrace Sarah Palin and support her for the GOP nomination for president in 2012.

Millions and millions of Americans are sick and tired of the 'old boys club' routine where Washington politicians screw the taxpayers by voting for endless expansions of useless government programs and insult our intelligence by pretending they're 'conservative' when they are really just self-aggrandizing, narcissistic, venal opportunists seeking to gain unearned wealth and prestige by posing as 'statesmen', pandering to conservatives back home by making 'conservative' noises then going to Washington and voting for more liberal programs and slapping RINO senators like Graham on the back.

I'm not 100% sure if Sarah Palin is 'The One' in 2012 but her straightforward approach to politics and her authentic outsider status appeals to millions of Americans who want to throw all of the incumbents in Washington out of there and basically start fresh. There is far, far too much political back-scratching in congress and this latest nonsense of Jim DeMint defending Lindsey Graham on Graham's totally wrong stance on global warming is yet another aggravating reminder that, just as there are really no 'moderate' Democrats there are lots of 'moderate' (RINO) Republicans in congress and, sadly, some alleged 'conservatives' tend to hang around with them and make excuses for their stupid positions, as DeMint has with Graham. They all have to go.

Let's hope so.

Let's hope he realizes that Romney is really the snake we all know him to be.

It is no longer good enough to suck less.

Graham stands up for tax and social security reform?

When did this happen? I didn’t see it.

I understand your last minute "support" for Romney in 2008.

I don't understand at all DeMint's fund raising support for Mitt back in 2006 and his endorsement of Mitt in Jan. 2007.

DeMint's been pretty good, plus there wasn't exactly a lot of choice in 2008.

He, along with a few others in the senate have been genuine conservative leaders.

A lot of people who claim to be conservatives endorsed Romney. I believe most of them are conservative however we must not forget that politics more often than not trumps principle in Washington.

I’d get pretty upset if he came out now and threw his support to Romney. DeMint has been fairly reliable conservative for quite a while.

Nice post.

It would be unbelievable to have a real true blue family in the WhiteHouse that seems to be pretty middle America in their beliefs and how they approach things.

They only reason I was persuaded early on Palin is due to the GOP establishment attacking her as vehemently as the frackin Leftists and Dems and media.

There aren’t many true conservatives out there Palin, DeMint and a handful I feel like I can trust most of the time.
